Good morning! If you are looking for my post for The Ton’s Spring Release, click here.
Today also marks the start of the new theme for A Blog Named Hero. The theme this month is Anything Goes! Just use your Hero Arts products to create a project for our link up.
This month, I have created a festive birthday card in some more masculine colors than my normal pinks and purples. (I have always thought my favorite color was aqua, until I looked at my Instagram feed and determined that the vast, vast majority of my projects are pink, purple, or both of those. Ha!) Anyway, I started by die cutting an oval from some watercolor paper and stamping a two-tiered birthday cake using the Birthday Cake Layering set, some masking paper, and black Archival ink. I colored the cake using my Zig markers and a damp paintbrush, then added some sparkle to the decorations with my silver Wink of Stella pen.
For the background, I used some pale minty green card stock cut down to an A2 panel. I stamped the gorgeous Garland background from Hero Arts and heat embossed it using some silver sparkle embossing powder. I added a pretty little blue border to coordinate with the blue layer in my cake, then popped up my oval cake die cut with some dimensional adhesive.
The final step was to add some of the gems from Studio Katia to the loops of decoration on the bottom layer of cake to make it a bit more dimensional.
That’s it for me today. Fairly straightforward, but I think it would be perfect for a masculine birthday card! You could totally do this in a variety of color combinations to have birthday cards for all ages and genders. Love it!
Now, it’s your turn. Just create a project by April 29, then link it up to the blog to be eligible to win a prize package from A Blog Named Hero. Have fun, and good luck!!
So very pretty…love this card.
Just lovely! Wonderful soft colors paired with a great BG stamp.
Saw your creation on the A Blog Named Hero and I had to come and see how beautiful it was in “person” – the colors you’ve chosen are my favorite and apparently my cat agrees since he won’t leave me alone!
