Hi there! Totally random post today. I have bunches of these watercolor pieces and panels from the most recent Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. This watercolor panel was one of my favorite projects from the challenge.
I started by heat embossing the lovely floral swags from Altenew’s Recollections stamp set using Platinum embossing powder onto some Canson Montval watercolor paper. I used my favorite Zig markers to color them in a pretty, subtle color combination, adding a wash of gray-ish brown around the outside. I do this by laying down the color all around the edges of the embossing, then pulling the color out with a very wet paintbrush. After the first layer has dried, go back and add some more color right up against the edge of the embossing again, wherever you want the color to be the most concentrated, again pulling it out with the wet paintbrush. If you get harsh lines, you can always go back in with a damp paintbrush and blend them out.
I trimmed the watercolor panel down and added it to a pretty pewter shimmer stitched panel, cut with the Double Stitched Rectangles from The Ton. I then used a pretty “thanks” die set from Honey Bee Stamps using the same pewter shimmer card stock for the thicker die. The thinner die was cut three times with some Autumn Rose card stock from Papertrey Ink and adhered together to make a dimensional die cut. Adding this little extra bit of dimension just adds a little oomph to an otherwise-flat card.
Well, that’s all for me today! I will be back Monday with some new projects! Hope you have a marvelous weekend, friends!
Love the colors you used here, Emily!!! So elegant! Have a wonderful weekend!
