Our focus today is peonies. We can’t get enough of Effie’s peony stamps, and so she graciously obliged with another gorgeous image that pops up in several places today! We have:
Peony Crush rubber background
Mini Heart Print background
Dearest Peony
Pretty Mail
Mini Mail
Blue Lagoon, Raspberry Sparkle, Kiwi Smoothie couture mixes
For my first project, you know I couldn’t resist coloring up that beautiful peony image. I stamped it onto some Canson Montval watercolor paper, then heat embossed it with The Ton’s Rose Gold Embossing Powder. I colored it with my favorite Zig combination: Tea Rose and Light Carmine. Just creates the perfect coral. (insert the heart eye emoji here) I then did what I call a “waterlogged” wash around the flower… basically, the same colors as the image itself, but very diluted so that it’s just a faint wash of the same color around the flower. You have to be careful with this one, though, because the green and coral can mix and become quite muddy. So not pretty.
I trimmed the edges off of the watercolor panel, then added a strip of red adhesive glitter paper along the edge. I heat embossed the edge of my card base using the same Rose Gold Embossing Powder and the Minor Stripes background. The greeting from Scripty Greetings was heat embossed with the Rose Gold Embossing Powder onto a strip of coordinating hunter green cardstock that I flagged on the end and popped up with some dimensional adhesive. The final touch was to add some Guava Sparkle (one of the gift-with-purchase items!) to add a bit of sparkle.
The next set of cards is near and dear to my heart. I have a confession to make: I had a massive head cold the entire time I was trying to create for this release, so I didn’t get nearly the amount of coloring done that I wanted to accomplish. (It’s amazing how not being able to breathe just sucks the creativity out of you haha) But! The great thing about these images is that they look beautiful in just plain stamped form. That’s where my next project comes in.
From the moment I saw Pretty Mail, I knew I wanted to use it to create a monogram stationery set. I just adore how Pretty Mail, Peony Cluster, and the Peony Crush background coordinate. Using all three of those stamps, I was able to create a pretty, feminine card set, complete with coordinating envelopes!
I started by heat embossing the Peony Crush background using clear embossing powder on charcoal gray card stock. This shows off the incredible detail in the stamp a beautiful subtlety. Next, I die cut a small rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles and stamped the Peony Cluster gift-with-purchase stamp using Versafine ink, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then added a pretty pink monogram using the Scripty Alpha Upper and Hollywood Star ink. I added a pale pink mat around the stitched layer (somehow, having two stitched layers was too much, so I just cut a pink rectangle with my trimmer), then adhered them together. I wrapped some black twine around the charcoal layer a few times, then added the pink matted layer with some dimensional adhesive.
The envelope was a breeze, but I think mailing it out will create such impact. I simply stamped the beautiful frame from Pretty Mail using Smokey Quartz ink on a pink envelope that coordinated perfectly with the pink mat on my monogram card. I added the adorable little “you’ve got pretty mail” on the back flap, again using Smokey Quartz ink. Easy peasy, and so pretty and feminine! These would be quite quick work to make a set using a MISTI.
