Good morning! Have you enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful stamps and dies that we’ve been creating with this past week? So fun, right?! Nobody does flowers like The Ton. The conclusion of release week means it’s time for our Blog Hop! We have invited so many incredible guests to join in the fun… you’re not going to want to miss any stops! You can start back at The Ton‘s blog post to get the full list. You should have arrived here from Stephanie Klauck‘s blog and your next stop is Taheerah Atchia‘s blog.
The Ton has 18 new stamps, 13 dies and 14 Couture Mixes for their new Spring 2017 Release which includes up to three free gifts with purchases. For more information on The Ton’s incentive gifts, head over to The Ton’s blog. All new release products are available now!
For my first project, I wanted to focus on the absolutely stunning new Peony Crush background stamp. The detail in this stamp is absolutely incredible, and this new peony image is SO much fun to color. I started by heat embossing the stamp using silver embossing powder onto some Canson Montval watercolor paper.
After heat embossing, I started coloring with my Zigs. I always like to add lots of layers of color to my Zig projects. This ensures a great deal of depth and dimension. I started by coloring the entirety of the flower with Dark Pink and my wet paintbrush, then went back in and added shadows with my Violet Zig marker, blending them out with the Dark Pink and further blending them out with my damp paintbrush.
After I had colored the entirety of the background, I trimmed the panel down to 3.75″x5.5″ to allow room at the top and bottom of my horizontally-oriented card front for some pretty Bright Pink foil. For the greeting, I didn’t want to cover up my peony panel, so I simply die cut the Hugs die from white card stock three times, then adhered them together and adhered them to my card front. Relatively simple layout, and would be much quicker work without the watercoloring! But I truly think there is enough detail on these background stamps that they can stand on their own. Watercoloring is just so therapeutic. 🙂
For my last card for this release, I chose to work with the Wildflower Banner and dies, along with some of the blooms from the Wishful Wildflower set and dies. I started by die cutting and stamping the main image from the Wildflower Banner set, as well as the individual blooms from the Wishful Wildflower set. I stamped with Versafine ink, then heat embossed all of the images with Silver Pearl embossing powder to create a raised pearlescent charcoal. I colored the images with my Zig markers and a damp paintbrush, then stamped the coordinating sentiment from the Wildflower Banner set using the same Versafine/Silver Pearl embossing powder combination.
On my royal purple card base, I heat embossed the Haute Stripes background stamp using the same black and silver pearl embossing combination to be sure that everything coordinated. After I had arranged my floral spray, I adhered it to my card front with some dimensional adhesive, then added a few Shotgun Gray sequins to fill everything out.
Well, that’s all for me today! I hope you get a chance to take a look at the entire hop list (which can be found here) because the Design Team and the special guests will absolutely knock your socks off. Seriously, so much talent. Your next stop on the hop is Taheerah Atchia. Go, go, go!
