Good morning again! Today is also the start of the new challenge for A Blog Named Hero. The theme this month is Watercolor, and our fabulous collaborator is Honey Bee Stamps.
This month’s challenge is right up my alley. I love anything and everything watercolor, as you probably already know, and Honey Bee has some super cute stamps that are great for watercoloring! Today, I have chosen to work with the Celebration Box set, the Welcome Baby set, and the Country Blooms stamps and dies (all from Honey Bee) to accent the adorable Winnie the Pooh sentiment from Hero Arts’s Little One set. Let’s get started on the process!
I started by creating the box and baby portion of the card. I knew I wanted to have the baby poking her little head out of the box (for years, my friends and family had baby boy after baby boy, and now we are being inundated with sweet baby girls, so I need lots of pink baby cards!). I started by heat embossing the bottom portion of the box using gold embossing powder with some selective inking so as to avoid inking up the back part of the box that would be covered up with the baby. I used some Post It notes to mask over the box to add in the little baby girl, then masked her to finish embossing the back of the box. Phew. After I finished the marathon masking, I watercolored her with my Zig markers and fussy cut the whole thing.
I wanted to create a kind of ethereal floral scene, like you would see at a fancy baby shower or first birthday party on Pinterest. I die cut and gold heat embossed all of the blooms and foliage from the HoneyBee Country Blooms set, then watercolored them with my Zig markers and a damp paintbrush as well. After I had watercolored all of my individual elements, I loosely arranged them on my plain card front to determine where I wanted to put the sentiment from Hero Arts’s Little One. I heat embossed it on the plain white card stock, then used Bubblegum ink and my Clarity Stencil brushes to blend a pink ombre down the front of the card.
I adhered my die cuts with dimensional adhesive, then added some pretty pink sequins from Studio Katia to fill out the floral bouquets and add a touch of sparkle.
Well, that’s all for me today! You have until the end of the month to use your Hero Arts and HoneyBee Stamps goodies to create a watercolored card to enter into our challenge to be eligible to win a prize pack from our generous sponsor, Honey Bee Stamps! Thanks so much to HoneyBee for sponsoring our challenge this month!
Gorgeous, elegant baby card–love it! You’ve made me add the Country Blooms set to my wishlist!
