Good morning! Today marks the beginning of May (seriously, MAY?! Slow down, time!!) and with the beginning of a new month comes a new challenge for The Ton’s Challenge Blog! This month, Effie has chosen a super fun challenge: Tic Tac Toe! Simply choose one of the lines from the graphic below:
…and use it as the starting off point for your project! I chose Gold, Stripes, and Watercolor for my project. I feel like it has been awhile since I used one of my favorite color combinations: Pink and Sparkly Gold! Gold stripes are so classic, so I started by heat embossing the Haute Stripes background stamp onto some natural white colored card stock using gold glitter embossing powder. I trimmed it down just slightly and adhered it to an A2 sized bubblegum pink card base. For my flowers, I die cut and heat embossed the beautiful blooms from Wishful Wildflowers onto some watercolor paper using the same sparkly gold embossing powder. I colored them with my favorite pink Zig marker: Sugared Almond Pink, going back in after allowing the first layer to dry to add some depth and shadow to certain petals.
After I had colored all of my flowers, I die cut and stamped my label using the new Modern Labels set (with coordinating dies) and Hollywood Star ink. The sentiment was pulled from the lovely Fresh Cut Poppies stamp set and heat embossed using the same sparkly gold embossing powder. I arranged my floral swag in the corner, then used Press ‘n Seal to pick it up so that it would hold it’s shape whilst I added my adhesive foam to the back. After I had adhered my bouquet to the gold striped panel, I mounted my label with some more dimensional adhesive. I love the slightly homespun look of the wildflowers in the Wishful Wildflower set, and I thought a small jute twine bow would be the perfect accent.
After I had adhered all of my elements onto my striped panel, I decided that the top right corner needed just a little something, so I die cut and heat embossed a butterfly from Beautiful Butterflies 2 onto some vellum using the same sparkly gold embossing powder. A few Pastel Pink sequins finished it off.
Well, what do you think? Lots and lots of elements and layers, but sometimes a girl just needs lots of pink and gold sparkles. 🙂
Now it’s your turn! Use one of the lines in the tic-tac-toe (across, down, diagonal) as inspiration to create a project, then link it up to The Ton’s May Challenge Blog post to be eligible to win a $50 shopping spree at The Ton! (Even more incentive…. The Ton’s Boutique section now offers all kinds of wonderful embellishments, like Nuvo drops, and watercoloring supplies. One stop shopping!) You have until the end of the month to get your entry (or entries… no limit!) linked up.
Have fun, and good luck!
