Honey Bee Stamps July Release Blog Hop!

Good Morning Crafty Friends!

Swim along with our New Release – Under The Sea with Honey Bee!

Everything is available for purchase today in our shop HERE.

So let’s Shellabrate with some splashingly sweet prizes!!  We will have TWO winners that will each receive a $50 gift certificate to purchase new goodies in the Honey Bee Stamps Store.

All you have to do to win is comment here on the Honey Bee Stamps blog and again at each one of our designer’s blog by Sunday, July 16th. Winners will be announced on Monday, July 17th at Noon PST.

For today’s blog hop, I have created two different cards with these absolutely fabulous new products. Aren’t they marvelous!? Mermaids are SO hot right now, and the talented designers at HoneyBee have come up with some gorgeous stamps. And, those dies!! SO creative. I can’t wait to play more with them.

My first card uses the beautiful Ocean Bliss stamp set. This sweet little mermaid just screams calm, don’t you think? My color palette was inspired by the beautiful Coral Shell sequins from this release. I started by heat embossing the pretty girl from Ocean Bliss and the border stamp from Ocean Borders using some rose gold embossing powder. I colored them all with my Zig markers and damp paintbrush, then fussy cut the mermaid (I didn’t have the coordinating dies yet). I added a pretty peachy halo above the Ocean Borders, to create a sunset and to coordinate with my strawberry blond mermaid.

To create my card, I trimmed a panel of sea green glitter paper down to cover the bottom portion of my watercolored waves, then trimmed a strip of “scales” from a DCWV stack… the embossed pattern totally reminded me of a mermaid’s tail! I adhered them to the card front with dimensional adhesive, then created a sentiment from Mermaid Song and adhered it with liquid adhesive. The final step was to scatter some pretty iridescent sequins on the card front.

For my second card today, I paired the absolutely darling new Message In A Bottle stamp set with the beautiful wave background stamp from Ocean Borders. I stamped the bottle outline onto some heavy weight vellum, then heat embossed it with silver pearl embossing powder to create a very subtle outline, and finally die cut it with the coordinating dies. I wrapped some jute twine around the neck of the bottle to add some texture. I also stamped the scroll and cork onto some watercolor paper using Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then watercolored with my Daniel Smith watercolors.

For the beautiful background, I heat embossed the fabulous background from Ocean Borders onto some watercolor paper with the same silver pearl embossing powder used on the bottle, then used the “wet-on-wet” watercolor technique to drop color in from my Daniel Smith watercolor palette. Basically, I taped my panel to my work surface, then wet the entire surface very heavily, then dropped the blues and teals in with my wet paintbrush, allowing them to bloom and get themselves in all of the nooks and crannies of the heat embossing.

I stamped the greeting from Message In A Bottle onto strips of card stock, then heat embossed the “message” directly onto the vellum bottle with some black sparkle embossing powder. I cut a slit in the opening of the bottle to slide the cork in, adhered the scroll of parchment behind the heat embossed message, and popped the whole bottle up using dimensional adhesive. I added three strips of teal foil card stock to ground the bottle, then scattered a few more iridescent sequins across my card front. I mounted the watercolored panel to an A2 panel of blue shimmer paper.

Well, that’s all I have for you today, but the rest of the Design Team has some wonderful projects in store for you, as well! Don’t forget that there are two $50 Honey Bee shopping sprees up for grabs… all you have to do is comment on the Honey Bee blog post and each of the designer’s posts!

So swim along and get ready to SEA some inspiration!

Wow! The shading on your mermaid’s tail combined with the embossing – just stunningly realistic scales to my eyes! And how did you creat the rock she’s sitting by on? The shading on that is a sign of someone that really knows how to use their copies if that’s what you used … plus I love the Art Deco look of the ocean waves behind your mermaid … just an amazing piece of art overall!
