Good morning! Today, the Where Creativity Meets C9 Design Team is again taking part in the Feature Friday to help Concord and 9th celebrate two fabulous years! Today, we are focusing on the mouthwatering Here’s the Scoop bundle!
For my project today, I wanted to create kind of a dreamy ice cream shoppe vibe with my color scheme. I chose to do some no-line watercoloring with my Daniel Smith paints. I started by stamping the fabulous ice cream bowl from Here’s the Scoop using some very pale gray ink onto some Arches cold press watercolor paper. (I prefer the cold press when working with Daniel Smith paints.) I painted the image using primarily Quinacridone Pink, Quinacridone Coral, Naples Yellow, and Phthalo Turquoise, taking care to let one area dry while I worked on another spot that wasn’t touching it so as to avoid the wet colors melding into each other. After everything had dried sufficiently, I stamped the greeting from Here’s the Scoop using black Versafine ink, then clear heat embossed it to make it really pop from the soft colors of the ice cream bowl. I also decided to add some Glossy Accents to the cherry to give it some shine.
After I had watercolored my bowl of yumminess and some striped sugar wafers to add on top, I decided to make a subtle, creamy background with a diluted wash of the same ice cream colors over a heat embossed Sprinkles Turnabout background. After I was satisfied with the ombre wash, I spritzed some Shimmer spray over the top to make it really sparkle and add a bit of texture to the card. I then trimmed down the watercolor panel, adhered it to an A2 sized panel of turquoise card stock, then mounted my bowl of ice cream using some dimensional tape. The final step was to add some pretty coordinating sequins randomly over the card front.
Well, that’s all for my project today! I love these dreamy colors… they remind me of getting a big bowl of sherbet at my grandparents’ house when I was teeny. They always gave me a mountain of ice cream, which is exactly what grandparents are supposed to do haha!
Don’t forget that you have until tomorrow night to get your project in to the Anything Goes challenge for the Where Creativity Meets C9 August Challenge!
