Happy Saturday!! AND! It’s World Cardmaking Day! Today, we celebrate that hobby that brings us joy and bring us all together: making cards. The Honey Bee Stamps and the Chibitronics Design Teams are bringing you a special collaboration blog hop today to celebrate! You should have arrived here from Eiko Uchida’s blog and your next stop is Kelly Kohout’s blog. To find the whole hop list, click here.
For my card, I chose to work again with that darling little girl and her kitty from Hey Pumpkin. I wanted to use those fabulous lights to create a twinkling night sky behind her! Because I wanted to have the night sky and the die cut of the girl look fairly seamless, I die cut and stamped her on some dark purple card stock using Versafine and added clear embossing powder. I then colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and trimmed the bottom, beneath the treeline.
After I had colored the image, I blended some dark purple and navy blue ink towards the top of a dark purple A2, then die cut some tiny little stars from the Let It Snow die collection. To add the lights and circuits from Chibitronics, I laid the “night sky” panel on my A2 card base, then marked where all of the die cut stars were. I used that as a guide to help create my circuits. I created the circuits using the Chibitronics Starter Kit and the tropical light kit. I backed my stars with some vellum, then adhered the panel with multiple layers of foam tape.
I then adhered my main image die cut and added a sparkly, heat embossed sentiment. Finally, I added a few Bokeh Lights sequins and some Mercury Glass Stickles to create even more twinkly stars.
Here it is all lit up…. please excuse my non-manicured fingernails! The Chibitronics lights are so cute and so festive. They are a bit more work, but totally worth it for a special occasion!
Now, for even more hop fun!
Honey Bee Stamps is giving one lucky winner a $25 gift certificate, and Chibitronics is giving another lucky winner a Chibitronics Starter Kit. All you have to do to be eligible is leave a comment on each stop on the blog hop! The winners will be announced on Monday, October 9, 2017.
