Hi there! Happy Thursday-before-Christmas! Today, I have the pleasure of being a part of the Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge for December! Now, if you’re not familiar with the Pin-Sights challenge, here’s the gist: the Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge is a monthly inspirational challenge based on a Color Trend Inspirational photo that is located on the CLASSroom blog. A random challenge participant will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store. To be eligible, you MUST use Essentials by Ellen products and the photo badge as inspiration. There will be an inlinkz link up on the challenge post where they can submit their projects. All of the projects in the linkup will also be pinned on the Ellen Hutson Pinterest board!
We have some very non-holiday inspiration for you today, which is a nice change of pace from the red, green, silver, and gold that I’m sure we might be a little tired of at this late December date haha! Here’s our mood board for this month:
How’s that for graphic? Definitely a refreshing departure from holiday stamping to get you jumpstarted for crafting in the New Year! My brain almost always translates any inspiration into flowers, so I thought I’d combine those lovely, primary colors with the colorful cascade on the bottom left corner to bring you a cascade of pretty flowers!
To start, I die cut a multitude of the sketchy roses and a few leaves from the Bold Blooms die set, then stamped them using the coordinating stamps from Bold Blooms. I stamped the roses using Distress Oxide inks in coordinating shades of pink and orange: Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade , Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry, then stamped the leaves in Twisted Citron. For the card base, I created a cascade of flowers running down the front of the card from the top left to the bottom right using the same shades of Distress Oxide Ink. I added a few berries here and there using Salty Ocean.
After I had finished stamping my Bold Blooms on the card base, I arranged my die cuts down the front of the card, covering any holes or flowers/foliage that may have overlapped. I adhered them with dimensional adhesive to add some dimension and texture to the card front. Next, I used the fabulous Big Thanks die from My Favorite Things cut from some pretty blue card stock that I found in my stash. I added it over the top of the popped up florals, then covered the letters with Glossy Accents.
The final touch was to add some lovely Sparkling Clear sequins tucked here and there all over the card front to add a touch of sparkle and shine.
Well that’s all for this project! Now, it’s your turn! Create your own project using the graphic and your Ellen Hutson products as your inspiration, then head over to the Classroom blog to add your project to the linkup to be eligible to win a $50 shopping spree at Ellen Hutson! Have fun, and good luck!
