Good morning! Guess what today is? New Concord and 9th release (have you seen those fabulous monogram stamps?! Sigh. I want.), and that means a new challenge is up on Where Creativity Meets C9! Since it’s the first challenge of the year, we are challenging you to…
Now, for me, this took some investigation, because I have, ahem, an abundance of Concord and 9th sets, and I couldn’t remember which one technically came first. Thank goodness for Instagram, right? I went back through my old, old, old photos and found that the first Concord and 9th set that I ever purchased was Beautiful You and the coordinating dies. I didn’t remember which set I purchased first, but now that I know which set, I totally know why I purchased it… this set was the one that made me fall in love with that beautiful C9 font. That gorgeous, hand-drawn calligraphic font that makes me say ooh-la-la. Luckily, the fact that my first set was a sentiment set meant that I could use any other image set, and I felt myself compelled to use my all-time favorite set: Hello Lovely.
I started by stamping the beautiful florals from Hello Lovely onto some Arches Cold Press watercolor paper with Versamark and heat embossed them using Hero Arts Brass embossing powder. I then watercolored the flowers in a magenta, plum, and mustard color scheme using my Daniel Smith watercolors… something a little different, but still muted for winter!
After I had finished my watercolored panel, I die cut the “beautiful” die three times from watercolor card stock. I could have used regular card stock, but I think the watercolor card stock is a bit sturdier. I then pressed my Versamark pad on top of one of the die cuts, dipped it in more Brass embossing powder, then heated it up and repeated the process a total of 3 times to create a molten die cut. I adhered the three die cuts together to create a dimensional die cut. Next, I trimmed two strips of deep purple card stock and heat embossed the coordinating sentiments from Beautiful You, then adhered them with dimensional adhesive.
Well, that’s it for me today! Now, it’s your turn! You have until January 29 to create a project using your first set from Concord and 9th! One lucky random winner will be chosen from the linkup to receive a $25 shopping spree from our amazing sponsors, Concord and 9th! Another entry will be chosen to be a guest designer for a future challenge. Be sure to read all of the rules so that your project isn’t disqualified if it’s chosen! Have fun going down memory lane, and good luck on the challenge!
Wow so darn pretty!
Your card is absolutely beautiful!!!!
It’s beautiful. But I might missed the part of the purple background? How did you do that? Was that after you painted the actual flowers?
