Good morning! Today, I have the pleasure of taking part in the Studio Katia September Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from the Studio Katia blog and your next stop is Amy Kolling’s blog. There are several giveaways available, which I’ll discuss in detail at the end of the blog post! There’s a little bit of something for everyone in this new September release, but I (of course) couldn’t wait to dive right in to those beautiful florals for which Studio Katia is known! I am really loving deep, saturated colors right now… dreaming of fall, I suppose. I had to do some rich purples and no-line pencil coloring. Let’s get started with the details!
I’ve mentioned this before, but when I want to do a really saturated, colorful card front, that white line around a die cut really irks me and, I think, distracts from the overall effect of the intended dramatic color scheme. My solution: stamp on colored card stock and color with colored pencils! I began by stamping the main image from A Cup of Thanks onto some navy blue card stock using white pigment ink. I then used my Polychromos pencils in shades of deep lavender, teal, silvery gray, and light blue to color the image in a cool, dramatic color scheme. After I’d finished coloring the image, I used the coordinating die to die cut the teacup image.
For the background, I used the new Dotted Patterns Set 3 dies to die cut a rounded, pierced rectangle from the same navy blue card stock. I also die cut that pretty thanks die from some purple metallic card stock three times to create a dimensional die cut. I mounted the die cuts on the pierced rectangle die and then added some sparkle using the new Midnight Blue Crystals and the new liquid adhesive… it’s great for adding those tiny embellishments!
Well that’s all for my project today! I am loving the new florals included in this release, and that sweet little holiday bear… so cute!!
Now, for some giveaway information!
To celebrate Studio Katia is giving away TWO $50 CAD Gift Certificates every day of the Blog Hop! That’s FOUR chances to win. The winners will be chosen randomly from comments left on ALL blogs of our Blog Hop.

Absolutely stunning, Emily. I’m glad I’m not the only one who is bothered by the white lines of a die cut. lol It’s not too bad if it’s not too wide, but most of them are. Anyway, I’ve been commenting on your posts for a long time, but probably a newer subscriber. My favorite of this release is this gorgeous cup of thanks set.

Emily, I’m a new friend that loves your work. It is amazing!! I love your teacup, your coloring is so detailed. You always impress!! By the way, my maiden name is Midyette which is basically the same family name as Midgett. They all came from France in the 1670’s and settled mostly in the Outer Banks and Virginia. My father came from the Outer Banks. Just thought I’d tell you we could be related somehow. 😄
Such deep wonderful coloring. I would not have thought to stamp on colored cardstock. Really beautiful.
Wow what a beautiful card!
That is a really cool idea stamping on the Navy Blue cardstock and then coloring it in! I really like the effect! I love how you have the blue showing all around the outer part of the pencil colored picture it just looks so beautiful! And then layering it on top of another Navy Blue cardstock paper is just so gorgeous looking! Thank you for such a really great idea! I am going to have to try that!
