Honey Bee Stamps Brie Mine Blog Hop!

Good morning! Today is Day 1 of the Honey Bee Stamps Brie Mine blog hop! Today, we have a great lineup of projects featuring the new Brie Mine release that went live in the shop a few weeks ago! You should have arrived here from Cathy Zielske’s blog, and your next stop is Galina Filippenko’s blog. Honey Bee Stamps is providing some fabulous giveaways, so be sure to read to the very end of the post! Today, I’ve created a cute little watercolored cupcake, so let’s get started with the details!

For my project today, I couldn’t wait to color that darling, delicious looking cupcake in the new Piece of Cake stamp set! I began by stamping the cupcake and stand onto some watercolor paper using Ink on 3’s Fadeout Ink. I love this ink for no-line watercoloring, particularly.

The trick to no-line watercolor is to keep the wet sections separated until they’re dry. I began by watercoloring the bottom of the cake stand, then working on the cupcake liner, then the frosting, allowing the top of the cupcake stand and the cake part of the cupcake to remain unpainted until those other sections had dried. This extra step keeps the definition in each section crisp. Otherwise, the sections and colors would bleed into each other and create a muddled mess.

I created a greeting using the Sweet stamps and dies, then popped these stark black sentiment components up using dimensional foam adhesive to really help them stand out from the background.

That’s all for my project today! The Honey Bee Stamps team has tons of inspiration for you, though, and Melissa has designed a sweet little mouse that will just steal your heart! Be sure to check out all of the stops! Honey Bee Stamps is also giving away two $30 shopping sprees to the Honey Bee store! Simply leave a comment on each stop on the blog hop to be eligible to win! The winners will be announced on this page on February 1, 2019. Your next stop on the hop is Galina Filippenko’s blog. Remember to leave a comment on each stop to be eligible to win the giveaway!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a marvelous day!

  1. Winners will be announced on this page of the HBS blog on February 1st .
