I have a couple of projects to share with you today using lots of the new goodies. I absolutely love the Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolors, so I just had to use them with the new products for today’s post!

First up: some absolutely stunning new dies: Spring Flora. The detail on this die set is absolutely incredible. There were several different directions that I could have gone with these dies, but I wanted to give them some vibrant color using the incredible liquid watercolors. I began by die cutting the detailed top die twice from some watercolor paper. For intricate dies like this, especially when using super thick paper like watercolor paper, I like to use my Precision Base Plate in my Vagabond.

After I’d die cut the panel, I left most of the die cut pieces within the main die cut to make watercoloring a little easier. I used the liquid watercolors to add color, mainly using Bubble Gum, Sapphire, Emerald City, and Aquamarine. I concentrated the Bubble Gum watercolor towards the bottom of the larger flowers, then used my wet paintbrush to pull the color out to add a bit of interest to the flower shape. I used the same technique for the foliage and tiny flowers, as well. Don’t you just love that vibrant color?

I adhered the die cuts on a white card base, butting the straight sides up against each other in the center of the card front. I then stamped this sweet sentiment from the new Scripted Bold Sentiments 1 on a strip of white card stock, then adhered it to a slightly larger strip of hot pink card stock. I mounted the sentiment strip using foam tape over the seam where the two die cuts meet, making it look like one seamless, super intricate die cut. I love that stark white card front with those pops of super vibrant color, don’t you?

For my second project, I was still loving those pinks, purples, and blues, but wanted to make them a little softer and more subtle, paired with the new Heart and Soul stamp and die set. I stamped and heat embossed the main floral swag from Heart and Soul onto some watercolor card stock, then used the same shades of Bubble Gum, Sapphire, Emerald City, and Aquamarine to watercolor the image. I also taped an A2 panel of watercolor paper down to a cutting board and used the “wet on wet” technique to create a pale pastel watercolor wash for the background. I generously wet my watercolor paper with clean water, then dropped in the undiluted watercolor and swirled it around with my paintbrush until I achieved the look I desired.

I love creating blocked sentiments using alphabet dies, so I die cut “HUGS” from black card stock using the new Adore Alpha die set. I trimmed the watercolor card stock down a bit, then mounted the panel on an A2 panel of black glitter card stock. I added the floral swag with some foam tape, then adhered the large “hugs” with some more dimensional foam adhesive. I added a few iridescent purple jewels and, to really help fill out the card front, added some hot pink Nuvo drops to tie the color scheme all together.
Well, that’s all for my projects today! Now, for some fun goodies and giveaway information!

Great cards and great colors!!
I really like the way you did your design in a mirror image!
You mentioned using the Precision Base Plate in your Vagabond. I’m not sure which one you have. I was using the original one in my Vagabond, and not really liking the results. Then I recently saw the newer version that has the chrome finish to cut against. I researched it and decided if it worked as advertised, it would be worth it. It works so much better and it never gets cut into. I don’t know exactly how it works, but I love that the marks from the die’s release holes aren’t embossed on my card stock and everything is cut so well!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work! I didn’t mean to get on such a tangent with the base plate… =)
Sweet cards that make these products shine. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
