Good morning! Today, I have the pleasure of taking part in the latest Altenew Build A Flower release! February’s flower is a beautiful Japanese Mum. Each Build A Flower set is a large 6×8 stamp set and comes with coordinating dies. You can buy them individually each month, or if you’re a flower nut like I am, you can subscribe to receive the new sets each month (and at a discount!). Click here to find out more details! You should have arrived here from Gayatri Murali’s blog and your next stop is Svitlana Shayevich‘s blog. Stay tuned all the way to the end for some special giveaway information! (There are a few ways to win)!

For today’s project, I wanted to feature that beautifully detailed multi-layer stamping. I love the Build A Flower series, because they frequently are unique flowers, and they include both the layering stamps for which Altenew is so well known, as well as frequently including the outline stamps so that you can put your coloring skills to the test! I thought that the amount of detail in the layering stamps of this particular stamp set was just spectacular, so I stamped several of the Build A Flower Japanese Mum around the edge of an A2 card base using some pink inks from Altenew for the florals, and some warm grays for the foliage. Every once in awhile it’s fun to switch it up a little. I can’t seem to find my way away from pinks for the flowers, but I don’t mind making the leaves a fun color!

After stamping my floral border, I stamped one of the absolutely beautiful sentiments included in the new Build A Flower Japanese Mum stamp set onto a square of white card stock. I then mounted it on some Pink Chiffon foil card stock from Tonic and added it to the center of the floral card front using foam tape.

The final touch was to add some accents here and there to fill out any gaps in the floral stamping around the edges. I used a gray Copic marker to add some tiny dots (almost like berries) periodically, then added some pretty pink gems to add some sparkle.
Well, that’s all for my project today! Now for some fun giveaway information!

Emily, I’ve just subscribed to your blog. I have only been subscribed to Altenew less than 6 months, & have enjoyed seeing so many incredible artists in the blog hops. You are definitely in the category of one of them. When I first saw this Japanese Mum, I thought, I wouldn’t be able to do it justice as I’m not a good colourer, but then I realized I don’t have to be. I think the detail in this flower is amazing & I’d love to have it in my stash. I only have one layering stamp & it’s a small rose. Thanks Emily. I look forward to receiving your emails.
