Hi there! Today, I am pleased to take part in March’s Build A Flower release from Altenew! You should have arrived here from Seeka’s blog ,and your next stop is Nathalie DeSousa‘s blog. You can also find the whole hop list here. This month’s release features the beautiful Build A Flower Dahlia, a gorgeous addition to the Build A Flower line. Each Build A Flower set comes with a large, 6×8 stamp set as well as the coordinating dies.

You can also purchase the set with a coordinating ink bundle at a discounted price:

Be sure to stay tuned til the end of the post to find out some fun giveaway information! Now, on to my project for today!

I love that so many of the stamp sets in the Build A Flower line allow you to either create a layered stamped image or stamp a line drawn image to color with your medium of choice! Today, I chose to do some no-line watercoloring using my Daniel Smith watercolors using the new Build A Flower Dahlia. I stamped several of the blooms and foliage using Ink on 3 Fadeout Ink, then used Daniel Smith’s Carbazole Violet, Lavender, and Ochre to watercolor the dahlias and die cut them using the coordinating dies that come in the set.

After I’d watercolored all of the images, I taped another panel of Arches Cold Press watercolor paper to a board and watercolored an ombre of purple to yellow using the same shades of Daniel Smith watercolors, then spritzed the panel with Altenew Gold Shimmer spray. While that was drying, I die cut a segment of purple foil using the Creative Edges: Lace die.

After the watercolored panel had finished drying, I trimmed it down and added a slightly larger mat of dark purple card stock, then adhered that to an A2 panel of gold shimmer card stock. I adhered the lace strip to the upper third of the card front, then added the watercolored Dahlias using foam tape, finally adding a sentiment strip from the Build A Flower Dahlia, as well as some Nuvo drops to add some further texture.
Well, that’s all for my project today! Now, for some fun giveaway information! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog for a chance to win. Three winners will be announced on the Card Blog, and the other three winners will be announced on the Scrapbook Blog on 3/9/2019.
Your next stop is Nathalie DeSousa‘s blog. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous weekend! Happy hopping!

Beautiful colors! 🙂
OMG Emily, this is ♡♡♡! I agree – the fact that you can color-block stamp or outline and color in yourself (or combine the two!) makes these Build-A-Flower sets so much more versatile and fun! I might have to consider the dahlia stamp set to buy, as I have a friend who grows the most gorgeous dahlias each year in her garden; this would be perfect for making her a special card!
