Studio Katia March 2019 Release Blog Hop

Good morning! Today, I have the pleasure of joining in the Studio Katia March 2019 Release Blog Hop! I received my package a bit late (darn post office!), but I had time to whip up one project using some of the new goodies. You should have arrived from Natalia Zubkova‘s blog, and your next stop is Kristina Pokazanieva. If you get lost, you can find the full hop list on the Studio Katia blog, as well. There are some giveaways to celebrate the new release, so be sure to read all the way to the end to find out all of the information!

For my project today, I couldn’t wait to use the beautiful new Aloha stamp and die set. I’ve been craving some watercolor lately, and it was just calling out to be watercolored! I began by stamping the swag and individual images from Aloha onto some Arches Cold Press watercolor paper using Versafine ink, then heat embossed the images with silver pearl embossing powder to create some pretty pearlescent charcoal embossing. I then used my Daniel Smith watercolors in shades of Opera Pink, Quinacridone Coral, and Carbazole Violet to add some pretty pink to the hibiscus flowers, touches of Payne’s Gray and Carbazole Violet to add some shadows to the white calla lilies.

After I’d watercolored all of the flowers, I die cut the images using the coordinating dies for Aloha, then set them aside. For the card base, I die cut a background using one of the new standalone dies from this release: Grid Cover Plate. I love adding subtle texture to a background by adding tone-on-tone background die cuts. It gives a bit of interest to the background while also allowing the colored images to remain the focus of the project. I added the white cover plate die cut to the white card front.

I arranged the flowers in a swag and adhered them to the card front using foam tape for extra dimension. I also created some sentiment labels by stamping the greeting from Aloha using the same Versafine-Silver Pearl Embossing Powder combination and popped them up with dimensional foam adhesive, as well. The final touch was to add some Jade gems for a bit of sparkle!

Well, that’s all for me today! I hope you’re enjoying the hop. So much fun inspiration to be had with this fabulous new release from Studio Katia! Now, for the giveaways.

Potted Plants is my favorite stamp. I believe the flowers are Orchids and maybe Lily of the Valley? Or maybe another type of Orchid? There are MANY types of orchids. I toured an Orchid farm with my garden club about 2 years ago. I LOVE them!

Aloha is my favorite. The Hibiscuses and Calla Lilies are very pretty and remind me of our trips to Hawaii. You colored the flowers and leaves very well. Good job.
