Altenew Festive Florets Holiday Card Kit!

Hi there! Today, I have a couple of fun holiday projects for you using Altenew’s new Festive Florets card kit! Card kits are so much fun to work with, because they can easily help you create so many projects from just one set of products. The Festive Florets card kit contains stamps, inks, stencils, blender tools, papers, envelopes…. everything you need to create some really beautiful holiday projects!

I focused on the stamps and the blending tools for my projects today, but I created a set of two cards using those two items from the Festive Florets kit, as well as a few other Altenew goodies. Let’s get started with the details!

Cherry red, dark gray, and crisp white seems to be my favorite holiday color scheme these days, but there is something so classy about it that I just can’t seem to help myself! I made one card that’s a bit simpler and easier for mass production, one a bit more involved with some Copic coloring to make it a bit more special.

For my more involved card, I used the Festive Florets stamp set to stamp the floral elements on some Copic-friendly white cardstock using Obsidian black ink. I then used my Copic markers to color the images in shades of red and gray. (I love using gray for foliage-such an unexpected and classy way to change things up a bit!) I fussy cut the colored images with some sharp scissors.

I then die cut the Layered Plaid Cover Die A from some charcoal cardstock and adhered it to a white card base using liquid adhesive. I also heat embossed a greeting on a square of white cardstock using a combination of Obsidian black pigment ink and pearlescent embossing powder to create a charcoal embossed greeting. I added a red foil frame cut from the Fine Frames Squares set around the edge of the greeting, then popped the sentiment square up on the plaid background. I added the florals in the corners, finally adding some bright red gems for sparkle.

For my second card, I tried to create a chalkboard vibe. I started by stamping the main image several times on dark charcoal cardstock using white pigment ink, then used the blender brushes in the kit to blend some white pigment ink in the center to create a bit of a grounded area for my sentiment. I created a frame around the edge using my t-square and a white gel pen, then added some white dots on the background panel to fill out the pattern.

Next, I die cut the Happy Holidays Script Die once from red foil cardstock and twice more from white cardstock, which I adhered all together to create a dimensional die cut. I adhered the greeting to the center of the patterned panel over the top of the white blended area, then mounted the gray panel to an A2 panel of cherry red cardstock to create a bright red mat around the edges. The final touch was a few white pearls to add some extra texture!
