Good morning! Altenew is releasing their latest Craft A Flower die set: Buttercups! You should have arrived here from Sandhya Iyer, and your next stop is LauraJane. These beautiful floral dies are so much fun to layer in different color combinations, but I kept things fairly straightforward for today’s card, adding a bit of a twist with some dark charcoal foil for the foliage. Let’s get started with the details!
I began by die cutting the layers in various shades of pale yellow, golden yellow, and deep orange, then adhering them together using liquid adhesive and some foam tape to create extra dimension. These pretty flower dies would be gorgeous in any color combination, but I kept my blooms pretty traditional. The color layering guide on the back of the packaging is super helpful to know which layer is supposed to be the lightest, mid-layer, and darkest! I also die cut several pieces of foliage using a shiny, deep charcoal foil.
For the card base, I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to mini-slimline size, then used Firebrick and Mango Smoothie inks to blend some color on the bottom portion of the card base, covering it with the Woven stencil and adding a bit more Firebrick ink to add a subtle tone-on-tone pattern to the background over only the blended area, leaving the top portion completely white.
Once I’d finished my blending, I adhered the floral die cuts with foam adhesive, tucking the foil foliage die cuts behind and adhering with liquid adhesive for lots of degrees of dimension. I added the die cut greeting from Craft A Flower: Buttercup, also cut from the same pale yellow and charcoal foil, then adhered with foam tape to the card front. The final step was to add some shiny charcoal gems to fill in any bare spots in the arrangement!
