Hi there! As we approach the end of 2021 (how is that even possible?), we are all looking back on our old projects and figuring out new ways to approach the coming year, perhaps even creating goals or resolutions for ourselves! Altenew is celebrating the new year by looking back at some of our favorite projects from 2021, and we’re celebrating with a blog hop. You should have arrived here from Danielle Dunlop and your next stop is Erin Thompson. You can also start back at the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog. I have six of my favorite projects to share (it was incredibly difficult to choose only six projects from amongst my Altenew projects. So many wonderful new products that I adored released this year!), so here they are! (Affiliate links used where possible.)

This project uses the beautiful Frilly Peonies embossing folder. This year, I discovered a new favorite technique: adding color, texture, and depth to the 3D embossing folders with watercoloring! A bit of a different take on no-line coloring, but the effect is truly magical. Metallic ink splatters also definitely became a favorite embellishment this year!

Using non-traditional colors for foliage was another technique that I really embraced this year. Flowers can sometimes present a challenge in and of themselves, and in an effort to add a little extra something to keep things looking unique, I frequently will add some non-traditional colors as a way to change up my projects! This pretty project features the beautiful Flower Bunch Simple Layering Stencil. Altenew came out with so many beautiful layering stencils this year. Another new “technique” that is a blast and creates such beautiful results-almost screen-printed!

This next project features the gorgeous Fairy Tale Florals and some no-line Copic coloring. I have enjoyed really getting to know better all of my coloring mediums this year, and the beautiful Fairy Tale Florals set combined with no-line Copic coloring was a winner in my book!

Next up, one of my favorite projects using Altenew’s Craft A Flower layering dies. Altenew began releasing beautiful layered floral dies early in 2021, and the Craft A Flower: Peruvian Lily was a stunner. I loved using inks, blending tools, and plain white cardstock to create the different layers for this project, grounding it all with a partial die cut lattice piece. I always love adding black accents to my cards and this black, white, and purple color scheme was one of my favorites!

This next project features some loose watercoloring on the gorgeous Build-A-Flower: Tree Peony. I love grounding my floral bouquets using a die cut frame, and the thin diamond die cut and loose watercolor wash created the perfect backdrop for the pretty peony bouquet. The Build A Flower line offers both outline and layering stamps, so you can got tons of really unique looks! You can always subscribe to the Build A Flower series to receive the sets each month at a discounted rate!

My final project features the gorgeous Craft-A-Flower: Morning Glory layering dies. Subtle texture created by layering tone-on-tone die cuts was another favorite technique for this year. The subtly textured background provides a perfect backdrop for the Morning Glory flowers, allowing the flowers to be the star of the show.
