Hi there! It’s new release day for Simon Says Stamp, and this month’s Out Of This World release is so much fun!! I even have a new illustration included in the release: the Dogwood Bleeding Heart background stamp! Months ago, I saw a beautiful image of dogwood flowers interspersed with bleeding heart flowers that were gracefully spilling over a white picket fence and just had to recreate it. I have a simple project to share with you today to introduce this new stamp set to you, so let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping the Dogwood Bleeding Heart stamp onto a panel of Hammermill cardstock using Intens-ified Black ink. I used my Copic markers for this card, creating the super pale pink dogwood flowers by coloring the outer edges of the flower petals a very pale pink, fading the color out with the colorless blender towards the center. I added some very pale lavender/grey shadows where the petals overlap, then did a “glaze” in the very center of the flower with a super pale yellow marker. I haven’t done much coloring from the outside in like this, and I think I will be doing it again very soon! It’s such a neat effect!

Once I’d finished coloring the image, I used my super sharp scissors to fussy cut around the edge of the image. When designing this stamp, I made sure to create a complete image so that you could use it in it’s entirety as a full background or fussy cut around the edges of the image as I’ve done here!

I popped up the image on a white A2 card front that I had die cut using the Detail Ringlet cover plate die from Simon Says Stamp. This cover plate adds the perfect amount of subtle texture to your background, which I love for use with bold, colorful focal points! I added a simple sentiment from the Beautiful Friend stamp set, stamped with black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then fussy cut. The final touch was a few shining black gems to add one last accent of stark black!
Well, that’s all for my project today, but I have lots more inspiration to share with you from the Simon Says Stamp Out Of This World release! Be sure to come back later this week for the Out Of This World Blog Hop!! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Beautiful card!
