Hi friends! Altenew has released a gorgeous new collection for July 2023, and it’s chock full of utterly scrumptious new products, including new additions to the Fresh Dye Ink family. Hooray! We are hopping along to share lots of inspiration with you today; you should have arrived here from Agnieszka Malyszek and your next stop is Jaycee Gaspar. You can also start back at the beginning at the Altenew Blog. I have two totally contrasting projects to share with you today, so let’s get started with the details!

My first project features some super saturated ink blending paired with intricate, tone-on-tone die cuts! I began by blending Ride the Wave, Easy Breezy, and Berry Cool inks on two panels of plain white cardstock. The blend between these three colors was so beautiful and reminds me so much of the beautiful jewel-bright waters of the Caribbean!

After I’d finished blending, I die cut the new Fragrant Flowers die from one of the blended panels and twice more from some more plain white cardstock. I layered all three die cuts together using liquid adhesive, which created an incredibly intricate and beautiful dimensional die cut! I adhered this dimensional die cut to the center of the intact blended panel, which adds marvelous tone-on-tone texture to the saturated background.

For the sentiment, I die cut a greeting from the new Versatile Greetings 2 from some beautiful royal blue glitter cardstock in the Blue Crystals Glitter Gradient cardstock pack. I also die cut the outline layer from some heavyweight vellum and adhered it with some liquid adhesive. Adding the vellum outline behind the detailed layer helps to differentiate it from the colorful, textured background. I popped up the sentiment die cuts with some clear foam adhesive to give them a little extra height and help them pop even more from the card front. The final touch was a few shimmering blue gems for one more hit of sparkle!

My second project is an homage to the new Fresh Dye Ink additions! I used the Golden Sunset and Green Fields inks with the Build-A-Garden: Pristine Peonies stamps, stencils, and dies and some stark black accents to create this striking card! I started by stamping and heat embossing one of the large peony clusters from Build-A-Garden: Pristine Peonies using Obsidian Black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I then used the Golden Sunset and Green Fields inks with the coordinating stencils to create some beautiful sunny yellow peonies. Once I’d finished ink blending, I used a black alcohol ink marker to outline the images. I wanted to make sure that the white outline on the die cuts didn’t detract from my crisp black background that I had planned out in my head!

To accent the stenciled peonies, I die cut the Swallowtail Butterfly dies, cutting the base layer from white cardstock and the detail layer from black glittery cardstock. I blended the Golden Sunset inks on the white base layer to add some lovely yellow and orange color, making the butterfly look almost like a monarch butterfly!

For the background, I die cut a panel of intense black cardstock using the Dotted Swirls Cover Plate Die, which adds a beautiful pierced pattern to the background, creating subtle texture on your card front. I also heat embossed a greeting from the Monstera and Quotes stamp set onto a strip of black cardstock using some sparkling gold embossing powder. I layered all of the die cuts on the card front using a single and double layer of foam adhesive for extra height on the butterfly, then added the sentiment strip with more foam tape so that it would pop from the peony die cut. The final touch was to add a few coordinating matte gold pearls!
Well, that’s all for my projects today! You can check out the full July 2023 release HERE.
