More Tiny Houses from Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I am back with another set of houses using the fabulous European Street Buildings set from Simon Says Stamp. I saw the precious “home is wherever you are” sentiment stamp in the stamp set, I knew that it would be the perfect accent for a sweet framed piece for a spouse to put on his or her desk! I pulled out a plethora of vibrant Pawsitively Saturated Inks, an inexpensive frame from the dollar store, and got busy stamping. Let’s get started with the details!

I began my project by stamping three of the European Street Buildings using some of the more muted colors from the Pawsitively Saturated Ink line. The most recent colors have been a bit more muted, and they work beautifully together! I love how colorful the buildings are in Europe, so I wanted to convey that with this little framed piece. After I had stamped and die cut the colorful buildings, I created several elements from the European Street Add-Ons set, like the trees, bicycle, and street lamps, die cutting them with their coordinating dies.

Because my frame is a 5×7″ frame, I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to 5×7″ size for my background to build my scene. I used the European Street Background stamps to stamp the cobblestone street at the base of my background, layering both light and dark gray inks to create a bit of a shadowed effect. For the sky, I blended Morning ink with a blending brush towards the top of the panel, concentrating the blue towards the top and tapering off as the color reached down towards the stamped cobblestones. I stamped a few of the little birds from the European Street Add-Ons. (I love that you can purchase all of these different sets in one European Street Suite bundle!)

To assemble the scene, I removed the glass front from my frame and added first strips of super strong 1/8″ double sided tape, then strips of foam tape on top of the double sided tape, adding them all around the lip of the back of the frame. I arranged the scene and popped up the different elements with foam squares. I stamped the greeting strip from the European Street Buildings set, trimmed it down, and popped it up with some more foam adhesive. I love the simple dimension that adding the layer of foam tape around the lip of the frame adds to the overall project!

Well, that’s all for my project today. It’s such fun to think outside of the typical card front sometimes and create something that won’t just get tossed in the trash (at least not too quickly!).
