Hi friends! I have a project to share with you today using some of the new goodies from the Smitten release from Simon Says Stamp. The Smitten release was filled with goodies for your Valentine’s Day crafting, and I paired the new Hearty Tweed Stencil with some older products to create this vibrant card filled with lots of love and hugs. Let’s get started with the details!
I began my project by blending the Hearty Tweed Stencil with Punch and Sangria Pawsitively Saturated inks onto a panel of white cardstock using blending brushes. I trimmed the panel down to a 2.25″ strip and added some strips of Crimson glitter cardstock
Next, I hot foiled the Warm Hugs hot foil plate onto some White Glossy cardstock (which is fabulous for hot foiling!) using Sparkle Red hot foil. This sentiment works nicely for both holiday cards and “winter” cards. It’s still cold in February and Valentine’s Day is all about love and hugs, so I’m going with it!! I used my sharp scissors to fussy cut the sentiment, then trimmed out a coordinating sentiment strip from The Best Friends sentiment cards set.
To accent the greeting and the subtle heart tweed background, I die cut a few sizes of the Nested Round Hearts dies from Rich Red Matte Metallic cardstock. I popped up the greeting pieces using foam squares, then arranged the heart die cuts around the sentiment, also popping them up with foam adhesive. Finally, I added a few red gems for a bit more sparkle.
Well, that’s all for my project today! Have you taken your holiday decorations down yet? I still have my Christmas tree up, but I’m trying to get the gumption to take all of my Christmas decor down. The Christmas lights are just so pretty that I don’t want to lose that glow just yet! It’s a little hard to create springy cards with Christmas decor around, but this red and white card was a good transitional project, I think.
