You can check out the full February release HERE! I have a pair of crisp, springy cards to share with you today, featuring lots of new products and gorgeous sparkly details, so let’s get started!
My projects today feature the marvelous new Lantern Botanicals Hot Foil Plate, stencil, and coordinating die and the utterly delicious new Cherry Blossom die set. I love a good floral swag to use to adorn a frame, and these new products worked perfectly for both of these cards.
For my first card, I hot foiled the images from Lantern Botanicals with some platinum satin hot foil onto some crisp white cardstock. I paired the hot foiled images with the coordinating layering stencils to add some quick color, using Meadow, Hydrangea, and Wisteria inks with the 1/2″ detail blending brushes. I added a few sparkling watercolors to some of the blended areas to add some extra sparkle and interest to the stenciled images. I die cut the finished images with the coordinating dies.
I loved the idea of the lantern hanging down from a frame amongst the vines and blooms, so I die cut the Ornate Oval Frame die from some more white cardstock. I also added some texture to a panel of white cardstock by running a panel of 3.75″ x 5″ cardstock through my die cutting machine with the Dotted Scallops die, which creates a subtle stippled pattern on the background. I popped the textured panel up on my A2 card base using foam adhesive, then arranged the frame with the lantern swinging from the frame and popped those images up with some more foam tape. For the greeting, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Lantern Botanicals stamp set using glittery platinum embossing powder, then die cut it with the coordinating die. A few Champagne Glitter Drops finished the project off!
My second project features the stunning new Cherry Blossom die set. I am always intrigued by standalone floral die sets, and these beautiful layered images are a breeze to use! There are coordinating stencils available, but I felt like stretching my coloring legs, so to speak, so I die cut the images from plain white cardstock and used my Copics to add pale pink color to each layer, as well as some pretty aqua to the foliage. I assembled the layered flowers according to the schematic on the back of the packaging, which took the guesswork out of the assembly process!
For the background, I used the beautiful new Dotted Petals Press Plate, impressing the pattern onto some Porcelain letterpress paper without any ink, creating a lovely textured background upon which I blended some Cherry Blossom ink and splattered some sparkly metallic watercolors. To build my frame upon which I could drape my cherry blossom die cuts, I backed a hot foiled Nested Rectangular Frame with a piece of vellum upon which I had hot foiled the new Stippled Plaid Better Press Plate. I love that you can use the Press Plates for both letter press and hot foiling! I trimmed down the pressed background slightly on either end and allowed some strips of Champagne Glitter Cardstock to peek out behind, making a full size A2 card front. I built up my framed image with some foam adhesive, then arranged the flowers around the corners, adding a sentiment from the new Happy Vibes stamp set.
