Hi friends! Tonight, I have a special post to share with you featuring some brand new goodies from the new Simon Says Stamp Splendor Release! You might have seen this gorgeous Mix & Match Butterfly stamp set for the new March 2024 Simon Says Stamp Kit of the Month. Well, I paired it with the utterly luscious lemon meringue Pawsitively Saturated Inks from the new Splendor release and the coordinating Zest sequins to create this sunny shaker card with lots of pretty details. Let’s get started with the details!
To start my project, I blended two A2 panels of Hammermill white cardstock using the new Butter, Zest, Honey Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I left one panel intact, then used two of the Nested Domed Arches dies to die cut an arched frame. I used the larger of the two dies to die cut a piece of acetate, adhering it to the back of the frame to create my shaker window. After adding a seamless line of foam adhesive around the back of the solid die cut frame, I filled the window with the new Zest Sequins and adhered my frame to my yellow ombré card front. The different shades of yellow in the Zest sequins pack shimmer and shine so spectacularly against the sunny yellow background!
Next, I heat embossed one of the butterflies and some flowers from the new Mix & Match Butterflies stamp set onto some more Hammermill white cardstock using Hero Arts’s White Satin Pearl embossing powder. I then used a blending brush to blend all three shades of yellow ink from the new Trio 27, starting with the darkest yellow in the center and working my way out towards the edges of the wings, getting lighter as the color radiated out. I die cut the pretty butterfly and tiny flowers using the coordinating dies.
After I had created the focal point for my shaker card, I turned my attention to the greeting. I die cut the Fancy Hello die from some Lemon Glitter Cardstock from Simon Says Stamp, which matched the yellow ink blended background beautifully. I also created a custom yellow embossed greeting by stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Mix & Match Butterflies set using Honey ink, then stamping directly over the top using embossing ink and sprinkling more White Satin Pearl embossing powder. This combination of the colored stamped greeting with the white pearl embossing powder created a lovely custom “colored” embossing powder. After heat embossing, I used some residual ink left over on my blending brush to lightly blend some of the Butter ink on my sentiment strip in order to keep the entire card as monochromatic as possible. I arranged the die cut elements and sentiment pieces atop my shaker card front, finally embellishing the butterfly and flowers with some of the new Sunbeam Pawsitively Dazzling gems.
Such a sparkly, happy card! I would love to receive something like this for my birthday!
