Hi friends! I am hopping along with Altenew today to celebrate their absolutely marvelous collaboration collection with The Mint Gardener! (You can check out the entire collection HERE.) I have been a fan of Sarah’s for years, after discovering her beautiful work from her collaboration with Pottery By Eleni, and have found her floral designs to be absolutely stunning, so it was extra exciting to see that Altenew was collaborating with her for some beautiful new stamp designs! She makes the most luscious ceramic palettes with gilded edges.) We are hopping along today to share lots of watercolor inspiration using these magnificent floral sets. You should have arrived here from Therese, and your next stop is Svitlana. I have a colorful watercolored project to share with you today, so let’s get started with the details!
The beautifully detailed Garden Bouquet + coordinating die set is such a generously-sized image; you could easily stamp it in a wide variety of orientations and get completely different cards each time! I chose to take advantage of the large size to create the focal point for my A2 card by stamping the majority of the image onto a panel of cold-pressed watercolor paper using Permanent Mist Gray ink. I then used the beautiful watercolor tubes from Artistry by Altenew: Dark Cyan, Prussian Blue, Quinacridone Violet, Quinacridone Magenta, Payne’s Gray, Olive Green watercolor tubes to do some detailed no-line watercoloring on this delicate image.
After I had finished watercoloring the flowers and allowed them time to dry, I die cut the finished image with the coordinating die, which cuts out a very detailed and intricate die cut. I love when the die cuts follow the images so closely and are so delicate and beautiful! I die cut some deep gray frames using the Fine Frames Cover die, then added them to an A2 panel of Spicy Yogurt cardstock. The warm, creamy cardstock was a great match for the warm watercolor paper, and the gray frames bring out the gray anemone centers on the watercolored flowers.
For the greeting, I heat embossed one of the beautiful sentiments included in the Garden Bouquet stamp set onto some more of the deep gray cardstock that I used for the frames, embossing the sentiments with copper embossing powder for something a little unique. I popped up the floral die cut with some foam adhesive, then added another layer of foam adhesive to the sentiment pieces for a double layer, creating extra height and interest. Finally, I added some sparkling gems!
