Hi friends! I am back today for another project using the brand new Cheering For You release from Simon Says Stamp. Simon Says Stamp always does an exceptional job with their 3D embossing folder designs, with a huge variety of styles and designs that are perfect for adding simple texture to your background or going totally crazy with your favorite coloring medium, as I’ve done for my project today! I chose a few of my favorite Copic color combinations and went to work on these pretty modern blooms from the Crimped Blossoms Embossing Folder. Let’s get started with the details!
I started by running an A2 panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the Crimped Blossoms Embossing Folder. This super intricate embossed background would have been lovely on its own, but I thought I would take it a bit further by using some lovely cool magenta, lavender, blurple, and teal markers to add vivid color to each individual image! I treat coloring on embossing folders the same way I treat no-line coloring for stamped image: keep wet sections separate to keep the borders of each image nice and crisp. With alcohol ink, you have the advantage of almost instantaneous drying, but sometimes when you’re really digging into those nooks and crannies, the color can get really intense, so keeping the adjacent wet sections separate helps to ensure that those edges stay crisp and thus the definition for each individual petal and leaf remains intact.
After I had finished coloring the large images with my Copic markers, I decided to add some fun metallic rose gold to the centers of each flower. I have recently become aware of just how easily acrylic paint markers can add extra interest to your project, and so have been in search of fun colors to use with my projects. I purchased the blush metallic paint marker from Crafter’s Companion a couple of weeks ago and thought that the pretty pale rose gold would make a lovely complement to the cool pinks and purples on my project. I dotted the centers of the flowers with the bullet tipped marker for an easy way to add metallic shimmer to my background.
For the greeting, I stamped and die cut a sentiment from Sunshine & Smiles using Galaxy Pawsitively Saturated Ink on some more white cardstock. I wanted to add a frame around my die cut sentiment, so I used the Nested Domed Arches Frames to die cut an arch from some Metallic Rose Gold Mirror cardstock. To keep things interesting, I flipped it on it’s side, allowing the straight edge to run parallel to the long side of the colorful background. I popped the frame up with some new thin foam adhesive squares that I trimmed to fit the thin frame using my non-stick scissors, then added some regular foam adhesive squares to the die cut sentiment, creating two different levels of height and texture, which helps to keep the two die cuts from getting lost on the busy and colorful background. I tucked a white ribbon bow next to the die cut sentiment, then added a few Lilac Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for added sparkle and shine!
