Hi friends!! In case you missed it, the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember release is now live and filled with so many fabulous new products! I created a ton of autumnal and holiday projects for this month’s release, and so I thought I would change things up with some feminine butterflies using the gorgeous new Chelsea Butterfly die. If you watched Heidi’s live earlier today, you will have heard that this standalone die was designed by Memory Box, which is a super fun illustration of how wonderfully the different companies work together to make our industry extra special and fun! Let’s get started with all of the details on my pretty-in-pink card!
To start my project, I used the new Chelsea Butterfly die to die cut three different colors of cardstock: Rainbow Splash Ballet Cardstock, pink glitter cardstock, and white shimmer cardstock. Because this die cuts all of the components out at once, it’s super easy to die cut multiple colors of cardstock and mix and match the colors on each butterfly, creating three butterflies that coordinate but also unique!
After I had assembled my butterflies, I blended some Rainbow Splash Ballet ink around the edges of a white, A2 card front using a blending brush. To add some extra shimmer and continue the somewhat magical aesthetic of the butterflies, I splattered some sparkling metallic watercolors on the background, as well. The combination of the pink halo and the shimmery splatters is just magical! I arranged the butterflies in a cascade on the card front, overlapping some and trimming off any excess that was hanging over the sides, adhering everything with foam adhesive squares.
For the greeting, I used the new Fancy You die, cut from more pink glitter cardstock and backed with a shadow layer cut from Tonic silver pearl vellum. The vellum adds layers and definition to the sentiment die cut without adding any extra bulk or weight. I also added a greeting strip using the new Reverse You Toner Sentiment Strips, which I hot foiled using my Minc machine and some shining Rose Quartz Deco Foil. I trimmed the sentiment down using my guillotine trimmer, then added a few Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for extra sparkle!
