Embroidery Under the Sea with New Simon Says Stamp!

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! I have another project to share with you using some new goodies from the latest Simon Says Stamp release, called Friend Like You. If you are very observant, you might notice that this mini stamp set that I used for today’s project was actually last month’s free gift with purchase, called Best Fishes. This 3×4 inch stamp set packs quite a punch for it’s size, creating a sweet little underwater scene! I always love a chance to practice my embroidery skills, so I pulled out my needle, floss, and some deep navy blue cloth and got stitchy. Let’s get started with the details!

Whenever I am working on a dark background, my go-to for stamping is Simon Says Stamp’s White Pigment Ink. I cut my navy blue cloth down to fit my 4″ embroidery hoop, then carefully stamped the sweet underwater scene from Best Fishes on the cloth using the white pigment ink. The image transferred perfectly to the tightly woven cloth!

I selected several shades of blue and aqua to use on my fishy embroidery, using a satin stitch to “color” the images. I also embellished the critters with some coordinating seed beads from my stash!

The bubbles, of course, needed some sequins, and to create a visual interest behind my trio, I made sure to use a variety of sizes of sequins, seed beads, and embroidered bubbles. I added a coordinating aqua velvet ribbon loop to the top of the hoop to allow for easy hanging. Wouldn’t this be so cute on the wall of a nursery?

Well, that’s all for my project today! I hope you enjoy these “thread painting” experiments. I can never seem to stop trying to learn new mediums with which I can add all kinds of color to my life. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
