Hi friends! Simon Says Stamp has a new release that went live last night: the Happy Camper Release! It’s full of so many fun summer-themed items, from cute little camping critters to cheerful florals to fabulous sentiment sets that work for all kinds of occasions! I have bunches of inspiration to share with you, but today I have a monochromatic homage to Rhapsody in Blue. Let’s get started with the details!

To begin, I ran a panel of medium blue A2 cardstock through my die cutting machine using the new Blossom Bursts. To enhance those gorgeous details of the floral background pattern, I flipped the panel over to allow the pattern to be debossed down into the cardstock, rather than create a raised embossed pattern. I then swiped the Dusk Pawsitively Saturated Ink Pad directly on the debossed panel to enhance the raised areas on the pattern, leaving light blue flowers upon a darker blue “background” (that is actually raised up.
For the greeting, I stamped two of the sentiments from the new You set onto some more of the light blue cardstock that I used for the card base, stamping first with Night Pawsitively Saturated Ink, then again with embossing ink and adding Iridescent Blue embossing powder to create an exquisite iridescent shimmer for the greeting. I die cut and trimmed the finished sentiment pieces out. I also die cut a vellum piece using the new Chunky Scallop Circles to create a focal point for the sentiment on the busy patterned background.
To finish the card off, I adhered the sentiment die cuts to the center of the vellum scalloped circle and added a few Groovy Flowers die cuts in a variety of shades of blue to create a visual cascade. I added some liquid and foam adhesive behind the solid die cuts before adhering them to the patterned background while also keeping the vellum clean. Finally, I added an Iridescent White Cord bow and a few Prism Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for added sparkle!
