Hi friends! I am back with some more colorful springtime inspiration to share with you today using products from the new Beautiful Moments release from Simon Says Stamp! (Check out the full Beautiful Moments release HERE!) I am always itching to pull out my markers whenever I see a gorgeous floral embossing folder, and the new Crocus Field folder is so exquisite that I couldn’t resist coloring it up to create a beautiful floral background. Let’s get started with the details!
To begin my project, I ran an A2 sized panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the new Crocus Field embossing folder. Once I had added that luxurious texture and dimension to the plain cardstock, I selected OLO Markers in lush mauve and verdant greens and began adding vivid color to the embossed images. I enhanced some of the deeper shadows on the blooms with some coordinating colored pencils, sharpened to a very find point to allow them down into those teeny nooks and crannies of each bloom. I also used a gold paint pen to add details to the stamens of the flowers, which I had ignored during my initial coloring in favor of ensuring smooth transitions from one color to another.
To coordinate with the shimmering gold in the centers of each flower, I die cut a couple of Whirl Butterflies from Simon Says Stamp Gold Matte Metallic cardstock. I also heat embossed a generously-sized greeting from the new Friendship stamp set using gold embossing powder, then used the coordinating dies to cut the sentiment out.
After I had die cut the butterflies and greeting, I popped them up on my field of flowers using foam adhesive. I like to use foam adhesive when adding die cuts atop a super textured background like this one, which prevents bumps on the die cut from the texture beneath. I arranged the die cuts in a visual triangle, ping-ponging their way down the front of the card. For some final gold accents and texture, I added a few Gold Pawsitively Dazzling Gems and tucked a gold cord bow beneath the greeting!
Well, that’s all for my project today! I really don’t enjoy summer, so I’m not quite ready to let go of winter and the cozy clothes and blankets, but I am definitely ready for the beautiful color that the springtime brings!
