For today’s project, I used a color palette that’s a bit muted for me, perfect for a masculine recipient. I feel like Kraft cardstock is such an under-utilized color in my craft room, and I am always so happy when I use it because I love the end result. I paired the Kraft cardstock included with the Step Right Up kit with the Pennant Banner die, also included with the kit, to create this colorful celebration card. Let’s get started with the details on my project!
To begin my project, I die cut three sets of the Festive Bunting images from white cardstock. There are some options in the Having Fun to stamp with dots or stripes, but I used a selection of alcohol markers to add some muted, somewhat masculine colors on my pennants. I colored all of the individual pennants with the markers, then used liquid and thin foam adhesive to add the die cuts to the Kraft card front, arranging the pennants in a festive swag all down the front of the card.
Once I had added the pennants to the card front, I wanted to add some celebratory sparkle to the background, so I used Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink to stamp the little sparkling stars in a swag down the card front, rotating the stamp so that the stamped images didn’t look repetitive or cookie cutter. I also added some small white dots with a white gel pen, then added a variety of Blue Frost Embellishment Mix, following the trail of sparkles down the card front!
Finally, I heat embossed a greeting from Having Fun onto more of the Kraft cardstock included in the kit, stamping with White Pigment ink and adding white embossing powder over the top to make sure the sentiment was bright and crisp against the muted tan background. I used my scissors to fussy cut the sentiment, but there are dies available to make that task go lickety-split!
