The 3D dies that come with the kit immediately piqued my interest, so I decided to create some fun, super clean-and-simple cards using the dies, A1 card bases included in the kit, some vibrant colors, and a bit of foam adhesive. Let’s get started with the details on my projects!
I will not claim to be an expert at clean-and-simple cards; my projects tend to be heavily layered, with lots of foam adhesive and intentional details. Sometimes clean-and-simple are harder for me to create simply because I have to force myself to keep things minimalistic! The A1 card bases included with the kit are really perfect for showcasing these dies; they’re just the right size to allow for a simple die cut focal point without leaving too much white space on the rest of the card.
My first project uses my rule “when in doubt, multiply it!” I die cut three of the 3D Cone dies from plain white cardstock, then used Lake Rainbow Splash Ink to add the simple stripes from the Having Fun stamp set, included with the kit. Once I had stamped my cones, I used my fingers to manipulate the cardstock into a cone shape, adhering the ends together with liquid adhesive and holding them in place with strong tweezers until they had dried. While the cones’ adhesive was drying, I stamped a greeting from the Having Fun stamp set and trimmed it with my guillotine trimmer. I used strong double sided tape to add the cones to my A1 card front in a neat row, centering the first and then placing the other two equidistant from the middle cone. I popped up the greeting with some thin foam adhesive, then used strong glue to adhere the fun “cotton candy” inside each cone! No gems or anything needed for this one…. I think it looks like a card you’d find in a stationery shop or boutique. I need to remember that sometimes simple is more effective!
For my second project, I used the 3D Popcorn Box die set to create this fun little hello card! I die cut the components from the 3D Popcorn Box die set using white cardstock, cutting lots of the individual pieces of popcorn to create an almost-overflowing box of popcorn. We aren’t stingy with popcorn at my house!! I used Rainbow Splash Scarlet Ink to stamp the vivid red stripes from the Having Fun stamp set, then used alcohol markers to quickly color the popcorn, using two different shades of yellow to add a bit of variation to the individual popcorn pieces. Once I had finished coloring the popcorn, I used liquid glue and foam adhesive to put the box and contents together. I popped the box up on another of the A1 card bases included in the kit, then tucked a simple, punny sentiment strip from Having Fun beneath the treat box with some foam adhesive.
