Hi friends! As part of their STAMPtember celebrations this month, Simon Says Stamp has released a special new collection of embossing folders with coordinating dies! Click HERE to see the full embossing folder collection! If you’ve never used embossing folders with coordinating dies, you’re truly missing out. Embossed images on their own add such an incredible level of detail and texture to your project, but die cut and embossed images? Talk about taking your project to the next level! I have a sweet and simple holiday card to share with you today using new and old goodies, so let’s get started on the details!

When working with die cut embossed images, it is important to remember to do your die cutting first. Think of it like like making cut out cookies; if you roll the dough after you’ve cut out the cookie with the cookie cutter, the shape will become distorted. Always die cut your image first, then place it in the embossing folder in the appropriate spot. I like to place my die cut images on the side of the folder that has the images recessed down into the plastic so that it fits snugly into the right place, then close the folder so that it stays securely in the correct space while running the folder through my die cutting machine. This technique almost always gives perfect results!
For my project today, I started by die cutting two of the sweet Fable Snowy Deer from plain white cardstock, then used the method mentioned above to add the texture and dimension to the die cuts. Once they were embossed, I used my OLO Markers to add color to the little deer, adding some white dots with a paint pen and Black Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for their eyes. (I tried to simply use a black pen to add their eyes, but I messed up…. so I improvised and covered it up with gems!!)

For the background, I wanted something simple and peaceful. Deer always remind me of peace and quiet in nature; they’re so graceful and so peaceful as they meander across fields and through forests. I ran another panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the older Textured Pine Trees embossing folder. To add some interest to the background, I first blended Marine Pawsitively Saturated Ink lightly at the top of the embossed card front, then used the white paint pen again to make sure that the embossed falling snowflakes were white rather than pale blue. I also added liquid adhesive to the trees and sprinkled Rock Candy Glitter over the top, making them completely frosted with snow and adding an even more magical and ethereal aesthetic to the card!

For the sentiment, I silver embossed a greeting from Nostalgic Christmas Greetings onto some more white cardstock, die cutting the finished sentiment with it’s coordinating die. I wanted to ground my deer amongst the glittering trees, so I adhered a simple strip of white cardstock to my glittering forest panel using thin foam adhesive squares, then popped up the deer with a double layer of the thin foam adhesive so that they really popped. I added the simple greeting and contemplated adding some gems, but thought that the glittering trees were sufficiently sparkly as to not need any further embellishment!
Well, that’s all for my project today! The new STAMPtember Embossing Folder + Die release (check out all of the folders HERE) is NOT limited edition like the collaboration releases (check those out HERE), but the embossing folders do take a significant chunk of time to be restocked due to manufacturing. With that in mind, if you love any of the folders released this month, don’t wait to purchase, because you might be waiting a while to get your hands on them! And as a special surprise, Simon Says Stamp has put ALL of their embossing folders with coordinating dies on sale from now through tomorrow, September 17, 2026 at noon, Eastern time!

Simply add your chosen folders to your cart and enter code FAST at checkout to receive 25% off of your embossing folder + die purchase!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and Happy STAMPtember!
