Good morning! Today, I have the pleasure of taking part in Altenew’s Refresh Your Markers Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from Svitlana Shayevich‘s blog, and your next stop is Kymona Tracey’s blog. There are some fabulously talented crafters on the hop who will help showcase the different ways that you can use the new Artist Marker Refills from Altenew! Not only do I have inspiration for you today, but Altenew has generously donated prizes for their own blog as well as a prize for my blog readers! But first, let’s get started with my project.
I love cards that are just saturated with color. I have difficulty deciding whether I like clean and simple, with lots of white space, or if I prefer cards that are entirely saturated with deep, vibrant colors. I have wanted to do a card like this for awhile…. I have some absolutely gorgeous dresses that have beautiful, colorful floral patterns that I’ve wanted to emulate on a card front, and the new Artist Marker refills gave me the perfect opportunity to add an abundance of color to my card front without having to worry about buying new markers because I’d used up all of the ink in my markers!
I started by stamping all of the flowers and leaves from Perfectly Perfect onto some masking paper, then fussy cutting them. I wanted to create a lovely, full panel of floral pattern. I then used the masks to stamp the background on a panel of white card stock using Copic-friendly ink. The masking allowed me to create little bouquets or clusters of flowers and foliage. Once that was done, the fun part began…. coloring all of those beautiful flowers from Perfectly Perfect using the Artist Markers.
I colored the flowers a beautiful shade of pinky coral using the Red Cosmos marker set, then the foliage using the Green Fields set. I then used the darkest shade in the Red Cosmos set (Grapevine) to color the entire background of my floral panel and really make those pretty pink flowers pop. There was quite a bit of space in the background of this pattern, so I used the Grapevine refill to make my marker nice and juicy and really saturate that panel with color!
For the greeting, I wanted to keep it very simple so as not to draw the eyes away from those pretty flowers that I’d just spent so much time coloring (haha!), so I simply heat embossed the greeting from Perfectly Perfect in white on some strips of black card stock, then popped them up on the card front using dimensional foam adhesive.
The final step was to add a few gems to add some more texture and sparkle to the card front!
Well, that’s all for me today! Now, for some giveaway information!
