Ellen Hutson+Waffleflower Blog Hop!

Hi there! Today, the Ellen Hutson Design Ambassadors are hopping to help introduce some of the absolutely stunning new designs from one of my favorite companies- Waffle Flower Crafts! Their newest release (available here at Ellen Hutson) is absolutely fabulous, full of such a huge variety of products that there is really something for everyone! I, naturally, gravitated towards the beautiful Tulips stamps and dies. Let’s get started with the details on my project!

I began by stamping the two main tulip nosegays from Tulips on some white, Copic-friendly cardstock using Intens-ified Black ink from Hero Arts. I then used Copic markers in pretty shades of purple and green, then die cut them with the coordinating Tulips dies.

Next, I cut an A2 panel of Lavender cardstock and, using the new Waffle Flower Mini Media Mat, Picket Fence Studios Blender Brushes, and Hero Arts Grape Juice ink, blended a pretty deep purple on one side of the Lavender panel. After I’d finished blending, I splattered some Hero Arts White Liquid Watercolor on the blended portion to add a little texture.

I adhered the die cut flowers using foam adhesive, then added a greeting (also from Tulips) with some more foam adhesive. The final touch was to add some pretty Pearl White gems to add some sparkle!

Waffleflower July Release Blog Hop!

Hi there! I have the pleasure of taking part in Waffle Flower’s July 2019 Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from my amazingly talented friend Jessica’s blog. This month’s release has a variety of seasons and styles, so there’s a little something for everyone! I have three cards to share with you today, as well as some giveaway details to share at the end of the post, so let’s get started with the details!

For my first project, I used the new Fall Dreams stamp and die. This new stamp set features a beautiful, super detailed botanical design that I heat embossed onto some watercolor paper, then used my Daniel Smith watercolors to add details and shading to the images, adding an ombre sunset background behind the little critters and foliage. (Look at the sleepy squirrel and the cute little singing birdie!) I love all of the gorgeous details in this set!

After I’d finished watercoloring the panel and allowed it to dry, I used the coordinating die to cut the center of the “frame.” I adhered the panel to some warm, pale gray card stock using foam adhesive, adding a sentiment strip that I’d heat embossed a greeting from the Fall Dreams stamp set onto some heavyweight vellum. A few gems finished it off!

For my second project, I used the new Horizontal Stripes cover plate die to create a glittery, tone on tone background for a simple Christmas card. I simply die cut the Horizontal Stripes die twice, once from plain white card stock and once from white glitter card stock, then adhered the individual stripes to an A2 card base.

I also die cut the new Oversized Merry die from some dark teal card stock so that it would really pop on the white striped background. I added a thin Christmas sentiment strip, popping both the Merry die cut and the sentiment strip up with foam tape, and finally adding some iridescent snowflakes and gems for a festive holiday feel!

My final card uses the absolutely gorgeous new Zinnia stamp and die set. Waffleflower has been knocking their floral illustrations out of the park, and this Zinnia stamp set is another winner!! The detail is just incredible! I began by stamping the large floral element and a few smaller ones onto some watercolor paper using some no-line coloring ink, then watercoloring them with my Daniel Smith watercolors. I tried a new-to-me technique for these flowers… Zinnias come in a huge variety of colors, and with the help of Pinterest, I discovered that one of the varieties has pink petals with green edges. It was such a unique combination that I had to try to recreate it myself!

I kept a pink and green theme throughout (I mentally was calling it my watermelon card, haha!), die cutting a Ticket Frame Die from some bubble gum pink foil card stock. I layered the pink foil frame over some celery green card stock using foam adhesive, then added my watercolored floral die cuts in a little swag towards the top.

I heat embossed a sentiment from the Zinnia stamp set using silver embossing powder on a pink strip of card stock, then colored the spaces in the sentiment in with a gray Copic marker. The final touch was to add some pink gems for some sparkle!

Waffleflower May 2019 Release!

Hi there! Today, I have the pleasure in helping Waffleflower Stamps celebrate their newest release as a stop on the blog hop! You should have arrived here from the amazing Jessica Frost Ballas’s blog, and your next stop is Alix Davis’s blog. Waffleflower has some suuuuper cute stuff debuting this month, with a little something for everyone- from flowers to cakes to horse drawn carriages…. So many fun new stamps and dies! You can find all of the new goodies here. I have two projects to share with you today, but there are some fun giveaways and promotions going on, so be sure to read all the way to the end! Let’s get started with the details!

For my first project, I wanted to combine that fantastic new Cake Cover Plate die with the adorable little couple in Wedding Day. I began by die cutting the Cake Cover Plate die and sentiment (included in the Cake die set!) from some sparkly white glitter card stock, reserving the icing pieces to create an almost ruffled tone-on-tone white cake! I stamped the bride and groom from Wedding Day on some white, Copic-friendly card stock, then used my Copic markers to color them in. They are the perfect size to be little wedding cake toppers on top of the Cake die cut!

I backed the cake die cut on a panel of acetate, adding the bride and groom and greeting die cuts on top of the cake, as well as inserting the scalloped die cuts from the cake’s interior to create that ruffled effect on the cake. I did some ink blending on my aqua card base, creating an aqua ombre panel, then filled the shaker with some sparkly sequins. Lots of white and sparkles are just what the doctor ordered for a wedding card, don’t you think?

For my second card, I used the stunning new Wild Roses stamp set. Waffleflower has been knocking their new floral sets out of the park, and this new Wild Roses stamp set is no exception. These gorgeous blooms are massive, perfect for getting in some really good shading practice. I first stamped several of the blooms and some of the foliage onto some watercolor paper using waterproof ink. I then used Fun Stamper’s Journey watercolor pencils to go to town on the shading. I love images like this that you can really hone your shading skills. I can’t wait to try some no-line coloring with these gorgeous blooms!

After I’d finished watercoloring the flowers, I blended some aqua ink in the corner of a pale aqua panel using blending brushes, then arranged the Wild Roses in a little cluster in the corner and adhered them with foam adhesive. I added a sentiment from the new Go Girl stamp set that I heat embossed on a strip of vellum and hid the adhesive behind some of the flowers. I added a few gems to add a hint of sparkle!

Waffleflower Crafts April Release Blog Hop!

Good morning! I am absolutely thrilled to be taking part in Waffleflower’s 5th Anniversary Blog Hop today! Waffleflower is a wonderful company with beautiful, unique products, and I am so proud to call the owner, Nina, one of my dear friends! I am so happy for their 5 years of success, and I hope for many more for them! You should have arrived here from the fabulous Jessica Frost-Ballas’s blog, and your next stop is Alix Davis’s blog. I have a couple of projects for you today, so let’s get started with the details! Waffleflower has released so many beautiful new stamp sets this year alone, and the Rainbow Bridge stamp set is one of my absolute favorites. The stamp set contains a plethora of poignant sentiments, and the coordinating dies are so simple, but so effective in conveying the sympathy you might feel for a friend who’s lost a beloved furry friend. I chose to create a vibrant rainbow using blending brushes and some super bright inks. I taped my A2 card front to the new Waffleflower Mixed Media Mat, then used my blending brushes to blend a bright rainbow of dye ink at a diagonal across the front of the card. Using the Mixed Media Mat allowed for quick and easy clean up after my ink spilled over onto the sides! (Tip: if your coloring medium seems to have stained your mat, a small spritz of stamp cleaner cleans that so-called stain up lickety split!)

I also spritzed the rainbow panel with some shimmer spray, again cleaning up the over spray easily on the Mixed Media Mat. (Please note that these mats will ship mid-April, so if you would like to place an order for currently-in-stock products as well as the mat, you must place two orders to receive the current stock before the mat arrives.) I added a simple white Rainbow Bridge Cat die cut over the top of my blended, shimmery rainbow, then added a simple sentiment strip from the Rainbow Bridge stamp set. So simple, but effective, and the bright colors would hopefully add a spot of cheer for a friend grieving their furry companion.

My second project features the super versatile and useful new Picture Frame dies. I had a Magnolia Copic-colored panel from the latest Daily Marker 30 Day challenge, and I thought it would look lovely with a “frame.” I die cut the largest of the new Picture Frames die from some white woodgrain card stock. I centered the colored magnolia so that it was dripping down from the top corner of the frame, then trimmed it so that it fit perfectly. I added a touch of a purple-y gray ink blended in the bottom corner, then added a stamped and embossed label.

The final touch was to add some jewels for a bit of sparkle.

Waffleflower December Release Blog Hop!

Good morning! Today, I have the pleasure of joining the Waffleflower December New Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived from Lydia’s blog, and your next stop is Therese’s blog. The new release for this month features some absolutely adorable kitties, a sweet little girl, and some nifty dotted backgrounds that are sure to become a staple in your craft room. Here’s some info from Nina, Waffleflower’s owner:

Waffle Flower’s 2018 December release is sweet and simple. Halftone Background stamp set features a gradient of dots that can be overlapped and stamped in two colors to create the look of a blended background. In this release you will also find the lovely Thinking of You  stamp set featuring the same girl from our Always stamp set hugging the cutest cat ever. The Cookie Love Stamp Set (stamp, die, combo), illustrated by Big Bear and Bird, is perfect for anyone wanting to send some love or get a jump on their Valentine’s cards! And the 2×3 Lettuce stamp set (stamp, die, combo) offers a cute punny greeting for a friend.

For my first project today, I chose to work with the absolutely gorgeous Thinking of You stamp set. The sweet girl in the set is also featured in the Always stamp set… would be so pretty to make a card set featuring both stamps!

I began by stamping the main image onto some Aquarelle hot press watercolor paper using Versafine ink, then clear embossing it. I then used my Daniel Smith watercolors to watercolor this sweet little scene. The little girl reminds me of my little miss, with just a hint of a curl to the ends of her hair, so I watercolored her hair a pretty reddish-brown and gave her a pink sweater, with a pretty lavender halo.

After I’d finished watercoloring the image, I stamped the greeting from the stamp set onto some black card stock and white embossed it, then flagged the end. I trimmed and mounted the watercolored panel on an A2 card base, then mounted the flagged sentiment strip using dimensional foam adhesive. Simple, but that beautifully drawn image from Thinking of You doesn’t need much, does it?

For my second card today, I just couldn’t resist that chubby kitty with his cookies! My husband loves, and I do mean LOVES, chocolate chip cookies, and this sentiment fits him perfectly! I decided to make him an early valentine.

I began by stamping the images from Cookie Love onto white card stock with Copic-friendly black ink, then coloring the images with my Copic markers. I have a fat little striped kitty named Chandler whose belly is definitely reminiscent of this chubby kitty’s (ha), so she was my model for this cookie-loving feline! After I’d colored all of the images, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I stamped the greeting from Cookie Love on some strips of white card stock, then blended some bright pink ink on the card base before mounting my die cuts and sentiment strips with dimensional foam adhesive.
