Hi there! Today, Altenew is releasing their new Build A Flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia stamp and die set! We are giving you lots of inspiration for these new stamps and dies with a blog hop. You should have arrived here from Mindy Eggen, and your next stop is Terri Koszler. You can also start back at the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog if you get lost. The monthly Build A Flower series is such a great way to build up your floral stash with a new (and unique!) flower released each month on the first of the month. This month, we’re focusing on the Fashion Monger Dahlia:

I love that Altenew gives you the option to use the layered stamps or take some time to do some coloring. You can always subscribe to the Build A Flower series to receive the sets each month at a discounted rate! I have two projects today using the Build A Flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia with some black and white and pops of color. Let’s get started on the details!

Whenever I’m working with these new stamp sets, I like to stamp a bunch of the flowers and foliage and add color to them, then figure out a layout after I’ve got all of my die cut pieces ready to go. This usually means that I have enough to make more than just one card, hooray! I began by stamping the main dahlia image from Build A Flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia several times on white cardstock using Altenew’s Permanent Black Ink, then colored the images using some bright pink and yellow Copic markers.

After I’d colored and die cut all of the dahlias, I trimmed a white panel down and layered it on top of a panel of black cardstock with foam adhesive to create a color blocked card base. I arranged the flowers and foliage across the seam of the black and white cardstock, then adhered them using some sticky adhesive.

I stamped a greeting from Many Thanks stamp set on a thin strip of white cardstock. I popped it up with some more Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I love how the sentiment pops on the vivid pink floral border!

I had one flower and some foliage left from the ones that I colored, so I decided to make another simple card. I began by stamping the Whimsical Herringbone background stamp on a white A2 card front using Obsidian Black ink.

For the greeting, I stamped another sentiment from the Many Thanks stamp set, as well as die cut a black Thanks from the Simple Greetings die set, cut twice and adhered together to add a bit of extra dimension. I arranged the floral die cuts on the patterned card base, then adhered everything using Instant Dimension Foam Tape. Finally, I added a few black gems for shine!
Well, that’s all for my projects today! To celebrate this release, Altenew has some fun giveaways:
$200 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners!
