Altenew Craft-A-Flower: California Giants Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

August 7, 2021

Hi there! Today, Altenew is adding the California Giants to their Craft A Flower die collection, and we’re celebrating with a blog hop! You should have arrived here from Natasha Davies, and your next stop is Dana Joy. This month’s layered die set features the California Giant zinnia flowers:

If you love layering dies, you should definitely subscribe to the Craft-A-Flower series to receive each month’s die set at a discount! I’ve got a super vibrant card that is absolutely saturated in color for you today, so let’s get started with the details!

I began by die cutting the layers for two individual flowers, a bud, and some foliage using the California Giants dies. The Altenew Gradient Cardstock packs are fantastic for these layering dies, as the colors work perfectly together-just like the layering inks! I used the Rose Petal cardstock set for the flowers, along with some minty green cardstock that I found in my (extensive) stash of colored cardstock for the foliage. After adhering all of the layers together using liquid adhesive, I turned my attention to the card base.

I began with an A2 card base in a lovely melon color that coordinated nicely with the melon colored centers of the flowers. I then used blending tools to blend Razzleberry and Grapevine inks on the bottom corner of the card base. I love adding ink blending to colored cardstock; the saturated color of the cardstock really makes the ink blending look so incredibly vibrant and intense! I also used the gold from the Altenew Metallic Watercolor set to add some sparkling splatters to the blended background for a little extra texture and shine.

Once my splattered, blended card base had dried, I used both liquid adhesive and Instant Dimension Foam Tape to adhere my die cut flowers to my card front. I also die cut the “hello” (included in the California Giants die set) from some shimmery gold cardstock and some more melon colored cardstock to really help it stand out amongst the deep magenta. So vibrant… not a speck of white cardstock on this card!

As always, Altenew is celebrating this release with a giveaway!

$200 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 8/13/2021 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 7 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 08/15/2021.

The next stop on the hop is Dana Joy. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and happy hopping!
