Hi there! Today is a busy day on the blog…. starting with the Pinkfresh Studios Dye Ink release and blog hop! These absolutely fantastic dye inks come in a truly stunning range of colors that are particularly unique to any of the other colors on the market! If you love the vivid boldness of the liquid watercolors, you are going to absolutely love these new inks. They’re trendy; they’re vibrant; they’re amazing. Of course, as stampers, we love using colored inks for stamping, but I also love using dye inks for techniques, as I’ve done on the following two cards. Let’s get started with the details!

For this first project, I began by black embossing the Through The Trees stamp set onto some white cardstock. I then blended Candy Violet, Regal Kiss, Sapphire, and Stargazer inks over the top of the embossed stamping to create an Aurora Borealis night sky.

After I’d finished blending, I used some white paint to splatter stars on the background. For the greeting, I used the recently-released Classic Holiday Words dies, cutting the detailed layer from silver glitter cardstock, and the outer layer from vellum. I adhered it to the blended card front with tiny dots of liquid adhesive.

For my second project, I used the beautiful new ink colors as watercolors! One of my favorite things about water-based dye inks is that you can use them as watercolors! You can dilute them down with clean water to create super pale color washes, or you can leave them full strength and have super vibrant and saturated colors.

For this card, I heat embossed a floral background (I had no idea that it had been retired!!! But the Flower Garden stamp set would be a good substitute) using White Satin Pearl embossing powder. I then diluted Sky Blue and Sparkling Rose inks with clean water and used a large paintbrush to create a “sky” all down the card front. The additional watercolor behind the images helps me to see the white embossing better, and it’s so pale that adding color over the top doesn’t cause any issues!

Once I had allowed the background wash to dry a bit, I tapped several different ink pads onto my craft mat and added some undiluted color to the flowers and foliage using a wet paintbrush! Colors used: Candy Violet, Sparkling Rose, Raspberry Bliss, Coral Reef, Regal Kiss, Sky Blue, Meadow, Emerald City, and Fresh Pear. The colors moved and blended beautifully on the watercolor paper. I can’t wait to try this technique out with more of the beautiful Pinkfresh stamps!
