Hi there! Today, I am super excited to be taking part in the Altenew Watercolor Brush Refill Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from Norine Borys‘s blog, and your next stop is Therese Calvird‘s blog.

We all know how much I love my mediums, but I resisted purchasing these, because how many watercolor mediums does a person need? However!! I purchased these watercolor brush markers earlier this year, and I was absolutely stunned by the beautiful vibrance and gorgeous array of colors available! They are available in three different groupings: Spring Garden, Tropical Fiesta, and Winter Wonderland. And now, we not only have the brush markers, but we also have refills so that you can refill your favorite brush marker colors or to use as just liquid watercolors with your own paintbrush!

Altenew is also offering a promotion to celebrate their newest release- $50 off the Ultimate Bundle– which is a great deal if these beautiful watercolors are something you have waited to add to your collection! No code necessary, and this offer is only valid 9/20-21. I have four projects using these new refills today, so let’s get started with the details!

For my first project, I did a bit of an unusual color combination for my Wallpaper Art flowers. I used the teals and greens from Winter Wonderland to watercolor a few blooms and foliage from Wallpaper Art, then die cut them using the coordinating dies.

I blended a bit of Galactic Stream ink around the edges of a deep teal card base to add a bit of depth to the plain card base, then arranged the flowers in a nosegay in the center of the blended panel. I die cut a simple “hi” from some white glitter paper using the Tall Alpha die set. A few sparkling sequins finished the project off!

For my second project, I wanted to showcase the incredible vibrance that you can achieve with these gorgeous watercolors. I used the purple, pink, and orange shades from Tropical Fiesta to create this sunset-inspired background. To use these watercolor refills with your own brushes, as I’ve done here with a wide, flat watercolor brush, simply drop color onto your palette or silicon media mat (like this one from Altenew), then use the brush of your choice to pick the color up and apply it to your paper.

After my vibrant, watercolored background had dried, I die cut a Dainty Blooms cover plate die from some black cardstock and adhered it to the watercolored panel. I die cut a white Thank You and adhered it to the card front using foam adhesive, then added a few sequins for some sparkle!

For my third project, I used the cool colors from the Winter Wonderland set to create a holiday card! I began by die cutting a Circle Quilt die from some watercolor paper, then used the Persian Blue liquid watercolor to add some mottled periwinkle to the entire die cut. I also used the Winter Wonderland colors to do some vibrant watercoloring on the Festive Poinsettia.

I adhered the periwinkle die cut to a white card base, then used foam tape to adhere a greeting and the watercolored die cut poinsettia to the card front. The final touch was to add some shimmery white jewels to add a bit of sparkle!

For my final project, I used the gorgeous shades in Spring Garden to add color to several blooms from Flower Garden. The super vibrant colors are just gorgeous, aren’t they? And they layer so beautifully! I used two different shades on the fuchsia flowers to create that incredibly vivid shade.

Once I had finished watercoloring the blooms and foliage, I blended a bit of Midnight Violet ink on the bottom corner of a white card base and added a bright blue “love you” cut from blue cardstock using the Inline Alpha dies. A few turquoise jewels finished the card off!
Well, that’s all for my projects today! Now, for some fun giveaway information!
