Snowflake Shaker Card with New Simon Says Stamp DieCember Goodies + FREE Gift With Purchase!

December 2, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! I am back with another project featuring some of the fabulous goodies from the new Simon Says Stamp DieCember release. I love a good shaker card; there’s something so festive and just plain fun about receiving a card that is filled with fantastic shaker bits and sequins. A shaker card always puts a smile on the recipient’s face, right? So it only makes sense to send Christmas Cheer with a super fun shaker card created with some creative die cutting and sparkling sequins. Let’s get started with the details!

I absolutely adore cover plates; they create such an enormous impact with one piece of cardstock and one pass through your die cutting machine. The new Starburst Plate is so beautifully intricate that I wanted to stretch that easily-created die cut even further by creating a die cut window with the negative space and a second card with the positive space! (More about that in a future post.) I began my project today by die cutting an A2 panel of white cardstock using the Starburst Plate, then placing the one of the Nested Domed Arches in the center of the die cut and running it through my die cutting machine again. I made sure to reserve the patterned, arched die cut for a future project, and backed the remaining negative piece with an A2 piece of acetate, creating a large, plain window to start my shaker card! I added an appropriately-sized Nested Domed Arches Frame die cut, cut from some Simon Says Stamp Silver Glitter Cardstock, creating a border around my window opening.

After creating my background, I used the previously-released Frosty snowman die with some colored cardstock to create the focal point for my project. The finished Frosty fits perfectly inside my arched window! I used the Simon Says Stamp 3D Foam Adhesive Strips around the edges of the back of my shaker front, then filled the entire shaker with some gorgeous and fun wintry sequins, adding a few plain red sequins to coordinate with the cheerful red scarf, mittens, and hat on my Frosty. I sealed up the shaker with a panel of plain white cardstock. I love how the sparkling sequins peek through the snowflake windows from the Starburst Plate die cut!!

For the greeting, I used my Minc Machine with Picket Fence Studios Red Flake foil to make the Reverse Holiday GreetingsĀ set look super shiny and festive. I trimmed the strip down and tucked it beneath my snowman with some more thin foam adhesive. Tucking the sentiment right beneath Frosty helps to ground him a bit so that he’s not floating in midair in my window!

Well, that’s all for my project today. Simon Says Stamp DieCember celebration is in full swing, and to make things even more special and fun, Simon Says Stamp is offering an exclusive freebie: Be of Good Cheer die set

You can receive this adorable Be of Good Cheer die set set from Tim Holtz with any $25 Tim Holtz purchase! Click HERE to check out all of the goodies eligible for the promotion!

I created a fairly quick tag using the sweet Santa die from Be of Good Cheer:

Some white embossed snowflakes on a cheerful red tag created the perfect backdrop for my happy Santa!

I added a few Peppermint Pawsitively Dazzling Gems, a cherry red bow, and a jingle bell to make things extra special.

Well, that’s all for me today. This fantastic freebie (valued at $16.99!) is only available while supplies last, so don’t wait! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and Happy DieCember!

“Blue” Pumpkins with Simon Says Stamp!

October 29, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! As we wind down on the month of October, I thought I’d share another pumpkin project for you, this time inspired by the recent trip to the pumpkin patch that we took last weekend! I was pleasantly surprised to find a wide variety of pumpkin types in the you-pick fields. Usually, we find the typical dark orange pumpkins, but at this particular pumpkin patch, there were at least 3 different colors, plus gourds and warty pumpkins! I was inspired by the “blue” pumpkins, which actually are more like sage green, for today’s project. In case you haven’t noticed yet, I like pushing the envelope with my color palettes, pairing unique colors with traditional imagery to create unique projects. I paired those “blue” pumpkins with some crisp white and cool silver metallic accents for a unique autumn card! Let’s get started with the details on my project!

*I have linked all of the products used at the bottom of the post for your convenience using affiliate links. Thank you for shopping with my links! I truly appreciate your support for my work!*

To start, I ran a panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the Oak Leaves & Branches Embossing Folder. I love the somewhat neutral texture that this embossing folder provides behind the pumpkins; it looks just like the horizon behind the pumpkin patch this past weekend with gusts of wind blowing leaves from the trees! I trimmed the panel down a bit and then splattered it with some shimmering glitter watercolors, then adhered the splattered and embossed panel to my full size A2 card front.

For my pumpkins, I die cut the Pumpkin Set dies, cutting the large pumpkin from sage green cardstock, then the details one time each from white cardstock and deep Midnight Green cardstock. (I just love the unique shape of that large pumpkin, don’t you?) I used a blending brush to blend Sage Pawsitively Saturated Ink around the edges of the large pumpkin, then used a super pale gray-green marker from OLO to add some subtle color to the white leaves that I had die cut. I love being able to customize die cuts with alcohol markers or ink blending to create the exact color palette that I have envisioned in my mind’s eye!

After ensuring that my splattered background was completely dry, I die cut a Nested Domed Arches Frame from some silver glitter cardstock and popped it up on my card front with thin strips of thin foam adhesive squares. I arranged the pumpkins on the corner of the frame, allowing the leaves to “climb” up the sides like a real pumpkin vine. I added a silver embossed sentiment from the Sketched Leaves stamp set, tucking it amongst the pumpkin trio with some foam adhesive, then added a smattering of Gunmetal Pawsitively Dazzling Gems to coordinate beautifully with the cool silver metallic accents on the rest of the card.

Well, that’s all for my project today! I have another pumpkin project to share with you that I worked on last week using my new favorite thing: felt. I have a few more finishing touches to add to it, but I am hoping to share it on Halloween. If you love felt and the fun texture it adds to your projects, feel free to come back and take a peek! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Rich Red Ink Blending with New Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks!

October 25, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! The new Sweet Wishes release from Simon Says Stamp contains a gorgeous new ink trio of luscious, vibrant reds that I used as the inspiration point for my projects today. I always love new ink colors, as color is frequently the first element that I decide when mentally designing my project, and these vibrant, cool reds are absolutely perfect for the holiday season. I used two different techniques with the same embossing folder for today’s projects, so let’s get started with the details!

*I have linked all of the products used at the bottom of the post for your convenience using affiliate links. Thank you for shopping with my links! I truly appreciate your support for my work!*

For both of my projects today, I put the new Ink Trio 30 to use with the beautifully intricate new Poinsettia Field Embossing Folder. The 3D embossing folders from Simon Says Stamp are amongst my most favorite products from every release, because there are so many ways to use them, and so many mediums with which to pair them. I’ve used two different techniques for my projects today, creating two completely different looks with almost identical supplies.

For my first project, I ran a panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the new Poinsettia Field Embossing Folder. To add color to the panel, I flipped the embossed image over to reveal the debossed background, with the images impressed into the cardstock rather than popped up. I then used small blending brushes to blend the two lighter inks in the new Ink Trio 30 in the center of each flower, blending the lightest over most of each flower and enhancing the center of each flower with a small amount of the middle shade from the trio. After I had finished blending on each flower (which sounds time consuming, but actually went quite quickly!), I swiped the darkest shade from the Ink Trio 30 over the raised areas, putting the ink pad directly onto the cardstock, which enhances the pattern and creates such unique texture! I blended that same deeper red around the edges, creating a halo, and splattered the entire panel with metallic red watercolor.

After I had finished creating the background, I die cut a frame from some glittery red cardstock using the Nested Domed Arches Frames and adhered it to the card front using liquid adhesive. I used the same glittery red cardstock to die cut the detail layer of the Fancy Happy Holidays die set and added a vellum shadow behind it. To enhance the sentiment, I die cut some foliage using the Airy Pine Needles die and Rustic Sprigs die, tucking the monochromatic die cuts behind the sparkling dimensional sentiment. Finally, I added a few Cherry Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for added sparkle!

For my second card, I did some simple ink blending using the new Ink Trio 30, using blending brushes to blend a smooth ombrƩ horizontally across a white A2 card front. After ink blending, I made sure that the cardstock was completely dry with my heat tool and ran the panel through my die cutting machine with the Poinsettia Field Embossing Folder. The color saturated panel enhances the incredibly detailed background so beautifully, adding texture and pattern to the panel.

After I had finished the background, I die cut another glittering frame, this time using the A2 Thin Frames and the same Crimson glitter cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. I adhered the frame around the edges of the blended, embossed background. The frames help to draw the eye towards the focal point in the center of the card, as well as add texture to the monochromatic card. I die cut the detail layer of the Simple Peace die from some coordinating red cardstock and the shadow layer from more red glitter cardstock, adhering the two layers together with liquid adhesive. I popped the sentiment die cut up with some foam adhesive squares, then tucked a sentiment strip from the Reverse Holiday Greetings sentiment card set, to which I had added some red toner foil using my Minc machine. To accent the sentiment pieces and add a bit more botanical softness to the card, I die cut a deep red Airy Pine Needles sprig and tucked it beneath the sentiment pieces. Finally, I added a Bordeaux ribbon bow and some shimmering gems.

Well, that’s all for my projects today! Each of these cards is so different while still being exactly the same color palette. It’s amazing what a difference technique makes for the color saturation with these embossing folders! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Cheery Pencil Daisy with New Simon Says Stamp Sweet Wishes Release!

October 10, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! I have another project using some goodies from the new Simon Says Stamp Sweet Wishes release! TheĀ Sweet Wishes ReleaseĀ is filled with lots of transitional products, featuring lovely florals perfect for these warm, late summer/early autumn days, truly autumnal items, and then a smattering of holiday products to jumpstart your holiday creativity! Last night, I shared a pair of pumpkin projects featuring some new standalone dies (check it out HERE), and today I have another peachy project featuring the beautiful new Artsy Florals stamp and die set, which I paired with the new So Very Black cardstock and some colored pencils. Let’s get started on the details!

*I have linked all of the products used at the bottom of the post for your convenience using affiliate links. Thank you for shopping with my links! I truly appreciate your support for my work!*

The whimsical nature of the new Artsy Florals makes it super easy to color using a traditional black outline, because it’s lack of hyper-realism means that your coloring doesn’t have to be hyper-realistic, either! However, I can’t seem to stop myself from trying to make anything I color at least somewhat realistic, so I decided to stamp the image using white ink on the new So Very Black cardstock to do some no-line pencil coloring. The finished effect reminds me of a Gerbera daisy, with its cheery petals and bright colors! I started my project by stamping the daisy, stem, and some foliage from Artsy Florals on the So Very Black cardstock using Simon Says Stamp’s white pigment ink. I find that white pigment ink works beautifully for pencil coloring, as it sits atop the cardstock and blends nicely into the pencil strokes.

After I had stamped all of the images using the white pigment ink and allowed it to dry sufficiently, I used colored pencils in a vivid peachy pink and bright apple green to create these vibrant images. I cut the finished images out using their coordinating dies. I love that the flower center cuts out the outline ring and the interior portion separately, so that you can create fun dimension that is really reminiscent of Gerbera daisies! I popped up the outer ring with some thin strips of foam adhesive to add extra height.

After I had finished coloring the flower, I splattered my black A2 card front with some glittering rose gold watercolors and added a coordinating rose gold frame cut using the Nested Domed Arches Frames and Simon Says Stamp’s Rose Gold Metallic foil cardstock. I popped up the flower components and tucked a sentiment strip from the new Reverse Every Day Sentiments amongst the foliage. Finally, I added a bit more shine to the card front with some new Black Pawsitively Dazzling Gems. I love that we have some neutrals in Pawsitively Dazzling Gems collection now. They’re made of glass and just so very sparkly. Truly luxe!

Well, that’s all for my project today! I have lots more inspiration to share with you using the new Simon Says Stamp Sweet Wishes release; you can subscribe in the box at the top left corner of my blog so that you can be notified every time I post! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Enhancing Embossing Folder Details with Lisa Horton Crafts Interference Inkpads!

August 15, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! I recently purchased some new-to-me inks that I’ve seen for a long time: Lisa Horton Crafts Interference Inks. These inks are a mixture of dye and pigment ink, creating an ink that has an incredibly unique metallic pearlescent shimmer and shifts colors in different lights and angles! An Instagram friend of mine (@ritzyhag) shared one of her projects with these inks that she’d purchased from the UK last year, and so I was super excited to see them available at Simon Says Stamp. (Click HERE to see them all!) I purchased… several… of these inks, and I am absolutely delighted with the initial experiementation results.

If you’ve been paying any attention to my blog over the last several months, you know that embossing folders are some of my most favorite products, simply because of the versatility of techniques with which you can use on them. When I purchased these inks, my first instinct was to pair them with some gorgeous detailed embossing folders, and boy they did not disappoint. I have created several cards to share with you over the next couple of weeks, but I thought we’d start off with some citrus-y cards to juxtapost the cool color palettes from my cards this week. Let’s get started with the details!

I realized that I hadn’t used the new Lemon Tree Embossing Folder, so I pulled that out and started ruminating on some citrusy colors and themes. The Interference Inks come in such an enormous array of colors; it was easy to find some colors that would beautifully accent this citrus color palette! They are a mixture of pigment and dye inks, so they stamp one color on white and another on black. I am having tons of fun experimenting with them on different colors of cardstock, too!!

I started by embossing a panel of sunny yellow cardstock with the new Lemon Tree Embossing Folder, then blended Honey Pawsitively Saturated Ink around the edges with a blending brush. Blending after embossing enhances the textured pattern on the cardstock and adds extra dimension to the panel. After I had finished blending, I swiped the raised areas of the panel with the gorgeous Lisa Horton Crafts Lemon Candy Shimmer ink, which adds some incredible shimmer to the pattern and adds some luxury to the entire panel. I also splattered the background with some shimmering gold glitter watercolors from my stash.

For the greeting, I kept things simple, cutting the Thank You XL die from some yellow glitter cardstock and vellum, then popped it up on the blended backdrop with some thin strips of foam adhesive. I used an alcohol marker to add some deep yellow to a length of white silk ribbon and tied it in a fluffy bow, tucking it beneath the sentiment die cut. Finally, I added a few sparkling Sunbeam Pawsitively Dazzling Gems. The shimmer and sparkle on this card is incredible in real life!!

For my second card, I continued with the citrusy color palette, this time using an under-utilized color in my craft room: tangerine. I paired it with the Alstroemeria Bunch Embossing Folder, creating a fiery tiger lily-inspired background. I embossed the orange A2 cardstock with the Alstroemeria Bunch Embossing Folder, then blended around the edges with Sherbet Pawsitively Saturated Ink. To enhance the details on the embossed area, I swiped Lisa Horton Craft Fruit Salad Shimmer ink over the raised areas. This reddish orange metallic ink worked beautifully with the blended background to add the prettiest shimmer to my project! I took it one step further and splattered some sparkling rose gold glitter watercolor on the background, as well.

For the greeting, I die cut the detail layer of the Appreciate You die from some copper brushed metallic foil cardstock and the shadow from some vellum, adhering the two layers together with liquid adhesive. I also die cut the Nested Domed Arches Frames from some Welsh gold glitter paper, popping one of the frames up on the embellished card front with some thin strips of foam adhesive. Before adhering the greeting over the arched frame, I die cut one of the standalone alstroemeria flowers, which is included in the Alstroemeria Bunch Embossing Folder, from some more of the same vivid orange cardstock, then placed the die cut in the coordinating spot of the embossing folder and ran it through my die cutting machine to emboss the details into the image. I used some residual ink on the blending brush from blending on the card front to add some dimension to the standalone die cut, then added some more rose gold glitter watercolor details. I popped up the alstroemeria flower die cut and greeting with foam adhesive over the glittery arched frame, finishing the card off with some sparkling Mandarin Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.

Soooo much sparkle and shimmer on these cards… the pictures simply do not do them justice!! These new Lisa Horton Crafts Interference Inks have so much potential for fun techniques. I can’t wait to continue playing with them! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
