Hero Arts Holiday 2023 Catalog Blog Hop+Giveaway!

August 24, 2023

Hi friends! Today, the Hero Arts Creative Team and tons of fabulous special guests are hopping along to formally introduce the new Holiday 2023 Catalog from Hero Arts! You should have arrived here from Dana Joy, and your next stop is Ilina Crouse. You can also start back at the beginning at the Hero Arts blog in case you get lost. This year’s holiday catalog is absolutely scrumptious, filled with gorgeous winter imagery, festive holiday florals, and lovely sentiments to make your holiday crafting a piece of cake! (Or maybe plum pudding?) I have two projects to share with you today, so let’s get started with the details!

My first project is a flat shaker using the magnificent new Poinsettia Window Die and Color Layering Poinsettia Window Stencils. I began by die cutting the Poinsettia Window Die (I absolutely cannot wait to color this up with my markers or watercolors!) from the center of a panel of white cardstock, then used Blending Brushes to blend the Color Layering Poinsettia Window Stencils with Forever Green, Soft Olive, Pink Grapefruit, Pale Tomato, Spicy Mustard inks. I used the Small Blending Brushes to add some extra shading to the different stencil layers, using a flicking motion just at the base of the images to create a little more depth and shading on the different components of the holiday wreath.

Once I had finished blending with the coordinating stencils, I backed the window with some clear acetate to create the top of my shaker. I adhered foam tape around the solid areas of the window to create my shaker, then filled the shaker with some tiny shimmering sequins. These teeny sequins shake so beautifully in this card, while their clear coating allows the coral poinsettias to still be the visual star of the show!

For the greeting, I heat embossed a sentiment from the new Holiday Season Messages using Brass embossing powder onto a strip of white cardstock. (You could also die cut the sentiment using the coordinating dies in the Holiday Season Messages Bundle! The dies weren’t quite ready when we created our catalog cards earlier this year, or I would definitely have used the dies.) I popped the sentiment up in the center of my shaker window using some more foam tape. Such a clean, but festive holiday card, perfect for tucking into a special gift bag!

My second project features more crisp white with a pop of red, this time using the gorgeous new Leaves and Dots Hot Foil Plate. This hot foil plate features a circular image so you can use it as an ornament, as a focal point, or just as a backdrop for your holiday greenery as I’ve done here! I hot foiled the Leaves and Dots Hot Foil Plate using Crimson Stars hot foil onto white cardstock, then die cut it with a Nesting Circle Die. I offset it slightly on my white card front, trimming off the edge and adhering it with foam tape to add a little extra height.

I die cut several elements from the new Winter Foliage Stamp & Cut from some more white cardstock. White on white with a pop of color is one of my favorite “color palettes” for holiday cards; the white on white simplifies things both from a visual standpoint and from a mass production standpoint. I love the textural interest that the different white die cuts add to the card front, as well!

I hot foiled a greeting from the new Three Holiday Messages Hot Foil Plate again using Crimson Stars hot foil and trimmed it down to a smaller sentiment strip. I then used a double layer of foam tape to pop up the sentiment block to give it a bit of extra height. The extra height helps to differentiate all of the layers on these limited color palette projects! I arranged the holiday foliage behind the greeting and around the circular hot foiled die cut. I love how this project came out with the pop of shiny red amongst the super textured white die cuts!

Well, that’s all for my projects today! Now for some fun giveaway information:

We’ll be giving away two $50 gift cards, drawn from the comments left along the hop. Comment on all the blogs for more chances to win! You have until Thursday, August 31 at 11:59pm to enter. The winners will be announced on the Hero Arts blog.

Your next stop is Ilina Crouse. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and happy hopping!
