Springtime Decor with New Simon Says Stamp Favorite Things Release!

February 28, 2025

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! I have another project to share with you today using a fabulous new embossing folder from the new Favorite Things release, which I used to create some vibrant home decor! I love creating all different kinds of projects using my stamping supplies, because they can be used for so much more than just cards. I thought that the large blooms on this pretty floral embossing folder would be so pretty framed, so I used some paint, an inexpensive frame from the dollar store, and my Copic markers to add lots of vivid color, creating a unique framed home decor piece that would be so pretty on a mantle, piano, or desk. Let’s get started with the details!

*I have gathered links to all of the products used at the bottom of the post for your convenience, using affiliate links. Thank you for shopping with my links! I truly appreciate your support for my work!*

To begin, I used Lucky Clover Distress Paint to paint the entirety of the wooden frame. These frames contain a chalkboard panel within the plain birch wood frame, so it’s super easy to customize. While the paint was drying, I ran a panel of plain white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the Pristine Blooms Embossing Folder. These 3D embossing folders create such impeccable detail; they really do a beautiful job on their own without much or any embellishment!

In my mind’s eye, I saw a vibrant field of magenta blooms on a sea of emerald green, so I used my Copic markers to add lots of detailed coloring to the individual blooms. Because the foliage is small and detailed, I used a lighter green marker to cover the entire area around the flowers, then used darker green markers to add details to the foliage. Around the edges of the panel, I added more deep emerald green, blending the edges with the same lighter green that I used for the entire background. This creates the feel of a vignette and adds interest and dimension behind the vibrant flowers while still maintaining the minimalist color palette!

Before adhering the colored panel to the now-dried frame, I decided to add some sparkling accents to the foliage and flowers, as well as splatters on the background. I used a paintbrush to lightly “gild” the tips of the foliage with glittering watercolors, then used Post-It Notes to protect the blooms and splattered the edges of the colored panel. I used Simon Says Stamp’s Tear-rifically Tacky tape to adhere the panel to interior of the frame. Wouldn’t this be such a pretty addition to a springtime mantel or on your desk at work?

Well, that’s all for my project today! Be sure to check out the new Favorite Things release to see all of the delightful springtime goodness that is now available. And don’t forget to check out the release blog hop, happening today and tomorrow! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
