Hi there! Today, Altenew is releasing some beautiful new products for hot foiling, and we’re celebrating and inspiring with a blog hop! You should have arrived here from Verity Biddlecombe, and your next stop is LauraJane. You can also start back at the beginning at the Altenew Blog if you get lost! I have to say, this release has totally made me jump on the hot foiling bandwagon… the results are utterly incredible. I don’t have a dedicated space for a foiling machine on my desk all the time, so I never really have gotten “into” it, but I think the gorgeous products in this release might just have made me a foiling maniac! Foiling can be a little fussy, but I gave myself an hour or two with my machine and foiled alllll of the things in allll of the colors. Both of my projects for today’s hop feature the new Gilded Rose Hot Foil Plate set, along with a few of the other new goodies from today’s release. Let’s get started with the details!

My first project features something that I’ve been itching to do ever since I got my Gemini Jr Foiling Machine: watercolor with foil! I foiled the beautiful, massive rose image from Gilded Rose Hot Foil Plate with some shiny golden onto some Arches Hot Press watercolor paper. The super smooth surface of the watercolor paper creates a perfect canvas for foiling this gorgeous image. I heated my foil plate on the medium setting on my Gemini for about 1 minute 10 seconds and got beautiful results!

Next, I watercolored the image using the Altenew Artists’ 24 Pan Watercolor Set to create this beautiful, fluffy coral rose that covers almost my entire card front! I also splattered the card front with some of the metallic red paint from the Metallic watercolor set.

While I had my machine out, I did a bunch of foiling with the Sentiment Banners Hot Foil Plate in a variety of colors of foil so that I had lots of sentiment banners to use for future projects! I like how this gold set of banners got a little distressed looking…. it helps bring out the imperfect splatters on the card front, I think! I popped up the greeting with some foam tape and added a few shining gold pearls to add one more element of shiny gold and thus complete my “rule of three” for embellishments.

My second card uses the Gilded Rose Hot Foil Plate and Stencil set to do some layered stenciling with this huge rose! This rose was foiled on the super smooth Hammermill cardstock that I use for basically everything in my craft room (except watercoloring, ha!) using red foil. I love the look with the red foil! I used some coral-y pink and red inks to do my layered blending, then fussy cut the finished image using sharp scissors.

Next, I used the new Tree Bark Embossing Folder to emboss some more Hammermill white cardstock to create a beautifully textured background for my rose. I love the juxtaposition of the feminine rose with the more natural, masculine woodgrain texture of the background.

I die cut a few white leaves using the Just Leaves die set, then layered my fussy cut rose and white leaves on the woodgrain card base using foam adhesive for lots of dimension. I added a greeting over the top of the rose using some more foam tape (double layers of foam tape are one of my favorite ways to add tons of dimension to my card fronts!), finishing everything off with a few gems tucked in amongst the foliage.
Well, that’s all for my projects today! I am so excited that Altenew is bringing their signature elegance and style to the hot foil arena…. it’s definitely a game changer! I encourage you to check out the entire release… it’s absolutely stunning. Now for some fun giveaway information:
