Reverse Confetti April Sketch For You To Try: April

Good morning! Happy Monday! I have a new project for you today using Reverse Confetti’s April Sketch For You To Try (and this is the final SFYTT! Jen has some new fun challenges up her sleeve, so stay tuned for that!). Here’s this month’s sketch:

One of the things I love about sketch challenges is that it can challenge you to step outside of your normal comfort zone. I will be the first to admit that I like straight lines and things centered and symmetrical. But this sketch has given me a new love for diagonal lines! I started with the Fun Times patterned paper pack, choosing two very different patterns. Because they were going to be sandwiched next to each other, I wanted to make sure that they complemented each other nicely, so I chose a small, almost neutral mint pattern, along with a bold pink and white stripe. I trimmed them down to 4×5.5″, then trimmed them at a diagonal using my trimmer and mounted them on my A2 card base.

Next, I stamped and die cut several of the flowers from Tall Blooms, then colored them with Copic markers in shades of pink and mint and lavender! (I totally used the colors in the Fun Times paper pack as my color inspiration!) I trimmed a small rectangle of white card stock, then added a greeting from Tall Blooms using black ink. I arranged the flowers as though the white rectangle were the vase or flower box, then adhered them using dimensional foam adhesive. Because my Tall Blooms were, in fact, tall, I moved the focal point from the sketch from the center to the bottom right of the card front. I liked the balance better that way. 🙂

The final step was to add a few sparkly gems to help fill out my bouquet!

Reverse Confetti Sketch For You To Try!

Good morning! Reverse Confetti has a fun monthly challenge, called Sketch For You To Try. Each month, they provide a card sketch for you to use as a basis for your own project to link up to the blog post.

Here is this month’s sketch:

For my project, I used the Something Wonderful stamp set to create a pretty bouquet. It’s starting to feel like spring in my neck of the woods (at least the longer days and sunny weather outside my window look like spring… temps have been lying, though.) I love black and pink during the winter… in my cards, in my clothes… but for some reason, about mid-February, my mind switches gears to navy and coral, sometimes together, sometimes apart. You’ll see lots of coral in my projects over the next few weeks. 😉

I stamped the pretty, lacy bouquet from Something Wonderful three times using the three lightest shades in the Tea Party ink bundle from Altenew, then fussy cut them (but you could also use the coordinating dies). I also die cut and heat embossed a greeting from the Kindness Cards stamp and die set using Platinum Embossing Powder.

I arranged the flowers in a pretty bouquet on my navy A2 card front, then adhered it with dimensional foam adhesive, adding the sentiment die cuts and strip to the bottom corner. I also added a few little floral dots (I can’t remember the name of the stamp set I used… sorry!) using white pigment ink on the blue background, just to give a bit of interest to the card base. The final step was to add some sequins to represent the three small circles at the bottom left of the card sketch.
