I created a trio of pretty cards using several of the elements from the kit, focusing on those magnificent patterned papers and rub-ons included with the kit. Let’s get started with the details on my projects!

Whenever I am working with a new kit, I closely examine the patterned papers included with the kit, which frequently gives me tons of inspiration. My carpal tunnel doesn’t love fussy cutting, but my creative heart loves the effect of making these beautiful images from the patterned papers pop! I selected some of the gorgeous, larger-scale floral images and butterflies from the patterned papers and the rub-ons included with the kit and began cutting them out with my sharp scissors, creating a little pile of ephemera that I could use to put together these pretty cards and tag.

The first project featured the unique new Squoval Tag dies. I die cut the tag shape from the included sheet of Ivory cardstock, then layered some coordinating fussy cut ephemera, including the printed library card image, some extra butterflies, and a simple bubble hello, also cut from one of the patterned paper panels! I adhered each piece with some foam adhesive, doubling up on the sentiment to help it pop from the background. Finally, I added a few Black Pawsitively Dazzling Gems and a black cord loop to make a simple gift embellishment!

My next project features the pretty pink patterned papers and Apricot cardstock. I trimmed down one of the panels of cardstock and centered it on an A2 panel of Apricot cardstock from the kit. I also added some transitional strips of peachy foil cardstock, also included in the kit, which helps the eye transition from the busy patterned paper to the softer peach cardstock. I layered one of the Tim Holtz Deco Frames from the kit off to the side, then popped up a fussy cut floral bouquet in the center. I also used the included rub-ons to add some more accents, including some hearts, a butterfly, and a little label upon which I could place my stamped sentiment from the Long Stem Florals stamp set, stamped with black ink and heat embossed with clear powder to make it nice and crisp. I added a black cord bow and some more Black Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for a little added texture and shine!

For my final project, I went back to my shabby chic roots (I was obsessed with all things shabby chic when I first began making cards!) and used this gorgeous ivory rose bouquet as the focal point for my final project. I splattered the A2 Ivory cardstock panel with some platinum glitter watercolors, then popped up the bouquet on the card front using thin foam adhesive squares. I added a fussy cut butterfly and sentiment cut from the patterned papers, popping them up with a double layer of thin foam adhesive for extra height. I absolutely love the delicate little Heirloom Roses from Tim Holtz that are included with the kit, so I tied a fluffy white seam binding bow and adhered it to my bouquet with my hot glue gun, adorning it with one of the ivory Heirloom Roses. Finally, I added a touch more sparkle with some Gold Pawsitively Dazzling Gems!

Fun With Felt: Stitched Bunny Tag with New Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I am back today with a sweet little gift tag that I created using some springtime felt colors and the new Stitching Bunny die set from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Moments release! (Check out the full Beautiful Moments release HERE!) I love using my felt to create handmade gifts, and this little tag could be an ornament, a door hanger, or just a little snippet of springtime decoration after being used to adorn a gift bag or basket. Using felt rather than just cardstock makes it feel more permanent, at least to me. Let’s get started on the details!

To begin, I die cut the components of the new Stitching Bunny from cream and blush felt. I also die cut a rosy felt egg using the new Basic Shapes Nested Eggs. Before placing my bunny on the egg, I used felt glue and embroidery floss to add the extras: sequined eyes, floss whiskers, and the pink toe beans and ears. Once I had finished adding all of the extras, I stitched the bunny to the egg in the center, leaving the head unattached so that I could add a small amount of fluff to help the bunny pop up nicely!

Because I had placed my bunny in the center of my generously-sized felt egg, I had some room on either side to add some embellishment. I die cut a flower and some foliage from Wildflower Bucket twice each, using the same pale pink for the flower that I’d used for the ears to provide continuity for each element. I adhered these felt die cuts to the egg using felt glue. I added a bit of shimmering embellishment with some stitched sequins and beads, as well.

Once I had finished adhering all of the felt die cuts to the front of the egg, I die cut a backer using the same size of egg die from Simon Says Stamp Mega Thick cardstock. This 120 lb weight cardstock is perfect for adding extra stability to your tags! I adhered it to the back of the felt egg with more felt glue, then created a tag hanger with one of the dies from the Layered Scallop Tags set, which I cut from metallic felt twice. I sandwiched the felt/cardstock egg between the two tag hangers, adding plenty of felt adhesive to make sure that it stayed put, and placed it under a heavy glass paperweight to dry. Once dry, I added a coordinating sage green ribbon hanger and bow and added the to and from information on the back before hanging it on my gift bag!!

Beaded Christmas Garland with Simon Says Stamp DieCember Dies + Bonus Tag!

Hi friends! I have another holiday decor project to share with you today, this time featuring some darling new dies from the Simon Says Stamp DieCember release! I love finding ways to incorporate my papercrafting items into customizable home decor, and these sweet little bird and snowflake dies were perfect to create this kitschy and fun beaded garland. I saw a video on Instagram of a woman who used square beads from the dollar store to create a neat garland with pre-cut holiday foam shapes. The foam shapes were, let’s be honest, not the best, but I knew that I could take it one step further with some beautiful and intricate dies to create this sweet garland. Let’s get started with the details!

To create my garland, I began by die cutting the new Flourish Snowflake and Flourish Bird dies several times. I used White 130 lb stock to add some heft and sturdiness to the birds; I sandwiched one square bead between each bird, adhering them with hot glue and ensuring that the hole in the center of the bead was facing the same direction for both beads. You can see this detailed in the photo below:

I also tied several fluffy bows using some red and white ribbon that I had in my stash from several years ago. I sometimes get overwhelmed when perusing my craft stash, but this project is a reminder of why sometimes it’s good to keep things even if you don’t have an immediate use for them! After I had tied the fluffy bows, I used the hot glue gun to add some more of the square beads to the back to allow for easy stringing.

I also die cut several birds and snowflakes from Rich Red Metallic cardstock and some white holographic mirror cardstock that I found in my stash. These coated cardstocks pick up the flourish details beautifully on both dies! I also die cut the wings for the birds from red glitter cardstock to add some extra holiday shimmer.

After I had adhered the decorative layers to the snowflake and bird “beads” I added lots of Pawsitively Dazzling Gems in Cherry & Opal to the flourish accents to add even more festive shimmer!

I strung all of the completed beads on a length of twine, adding plain round wooden beads between to create space and complete the pattern! Doesn’t it look so pretty on my office Christmas tree?

I had a few leftover metallic snowflake die cuts, so I thought I would turn them into shaped tags!

To create these shaped, folded tags, I folded over some scrap cardstock into a small card, then used the solid shadow die on it’s own, making sure to overlap the folded edge of the card base with the edge of the die when running it through my die cutting machine.

After I had created the tag base, I adhered the full metallic snowflake to the front, then used my hole punch to add a 1/8″ hole. I strengthened the hole with a die cut created using the Holes and Reinforcers dies, then threaded a loop of Iridescent White Cord through the hole to make for easy attachment to the gift!

Christmas in July Finale: Christmas Tree Trio with Simon Says Stamp + SALE!

Hi friends! For my last Christmas in July post, I thought I would share a pretty Christmas Tree Trio made using three different Christmas tree stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp! Nothing screams “Christmas” quite like a Christmas tree, right? Each of the stamp sets that I’ve chosen to use today have very different styles, and I paired them with a beautifully traditional green, gold, and white color palette to create this trio of projects that work nicely as a set or as individual pieces. Let’s get started with the details!

For all of my projects today, I use the gorgeous, muted greens from the Simon Says Stamp Ink Trio 31. This trio of muted greens is utterly luscious, and they are each as beautiful alone as they are when they are all working together! I added some glitzy gold accents to each project for an elegant touch, leaving lots of crisp white to make these tags and card as clean and elegant as possible.

To begin, I stamped the Fresh Air Holiday Tree using the lovely greens in Ink Trio 31: Jade, Eucalyptus, and Juniper. I did find it easier to stamp the three layers if I used the negative space of the die cut as my guide. I simply die cut a blank panel of white cardstock using the Christmas tree die from Fresh Air Holiday Tree, then placed the negative (the area around the tree die cut) in my MISTI, and used the negative space to line up each layer perfectly! The color guide on the back of the stamp packaging was also super helpful to know which color worked best with which layer, but honestly, the sketchy, simplistic nature of the finished image is super user-friendly. The first tree that I stamped ended up not being quite right with the die, but it still looked lovely, so I fussy cut it with scissors and then created a second tree using the method that I described above. If you have difficulty lining up your dies to stamped images, sometimes it can be very helpful to die cut first and stamp after!

To add some pretty shimmering accents to the card, I die cut the A2 Nesting Frames from some gold glitter cardstock and layered one on my A2 card front. I also stamped the star and sentiment banner from Fresh Air Holiday Tree using Lisa Horton Metallic Gold Pigment Ink, die cutting them with their coordinating dies. I added some touches of gold paint pen for baubles on the tree, as well as some Gold Pawsitively Dazzling Gems. I popped up the tree in the center of the glittery gold frame using foam adhesive, then added the sentiment banner over the top and the star with a double layer of foam adhesive! A simple but oh-so-elegant holiday card that I think would be super easy to mass produce!

To create my little trio, I also decided to create two coordinating tags using two more completely different tree images from Simon Says Stamp’s holiday collection. For the first tag, I stamped the elegant stylized tree image from Making Spirits Bright using an ombré stamping method. I inked up the top part of the tree with Jade ink, tapping the edges of the inked area with my microfiber cloth to blur them a bit and make the edge a bit less harsh, stamped it with my MISTI, then again to make sure that the top of the tree had great coverage. I cleaned the top 1/3 of the tree, then inked up the middle section with Eucalyptus ink, again blurring the harsh edges with my cloth to make the transition to each color smoother. Finally, I finished inking the entirety of the image with Juniper ink. I also stamped a gold sentiment from Big Holiday Words. I die cut each image with it’s coordinating die, then added some gold paint dots and gold gems for sparkle. I popped the tree and sentiment up with foam adhesive on a white pearlescent tag, cut using the Large Standard Tag die, then added some twine for a loop and bow!

For the simpler tag, I began by die cutting the Large Standard Tag from plain white cardstock. I used Juniper ink to stamp the tree from Trim A Tag, doing some creative masking to stamp the tree in green and the to/from in gold. I also added some Jade stars in the corner, adding subtle interest behind the tree. To add some sparkle, I used the gold paint pen for the baubles and added some small Gold Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for a little extra texture and shimmer! Finally, I finished everything off with a simple twine loop.

Well, that’s all for my projects today and for my Christmas in July series. It’s such fun to be able to pull out my holiday goodies after them sitting forlornly in my bins for months!

Egg-stra Special Two-fer with Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! It’s Easter week, and I have some fun and sparkling inspiration to share using some new and some old goodies from Simon Says Stamp! I have been really busy with family and then was able to take a much-needed vacation to visit some crafty friends over the weekend, so I am a little behind on sharing some Easter inspiration. Today, I have a two-fer: a fun, sparkling shaker card and a matching tag embellishment created using the leftovers! Let’s get started with the details.

I love creating fun shaker windows embellished with adorable images. I feel like the storybook images in the Hoppy Easter set work perfectly for shaker cards; they are sweet and innocent and work splendidly for a card for a child, and what child doesn’t love a shaker card? I began by stamping the bunny image from Hoppy Easter using Rainbow Splash Black ink, then used my OLO Markers in vibrant shades of pink, purple, and coral to add vivid color to the stamped image. I used a white gel pen and a sparkling DecoArt shimmer pen to add some extra interest to the polka dots on the bottom of the Easter eggs, then used the coordinating dies to cut out the finished colored image and stamped sentiment.

To create the shaker background, I began by stamping the Pepita Background onto some white cardstock using Bubblegum Pawsitively Saturated Ink. I then die cut one of the Nested Egg Dies from the center of an A2 panel of Clematis Glitter Cardstock and backed it with some leftover clear stamp packaging. (Reduce, reuse, recycle!) I used some strips of foam adhesive around the egg-shaped opening and filled the shaker with the new Clematis Embellishment Pack. Shake, shake, shake! I added the die cuts on the front of the shaker and added one final touch of texture with some Iridescent White Cord from Simon Says Stamp!

With the leftover glittery egg die cut, I added some strips of coordinating colored carstock and a pretty bow, which I die cut using the Pretty Bows die set and some deep plummy purple cardstock. I used a mini clothespin to add the embellished egg die cut to a glassine bag of jelly beans. Isn’t this such a cute and simple way to dress up a bag of sweets?
