Honey Bee Stamps September Release Blog Hop!

Have you all checked out the absolutely FABULOUS new release products?! I mean, really. Sunflowers, pumpkins, coffee cups, critters… There’s seriously something for every style and preference. My weekly blogging day for Honey Bee happens to fall on Fridays, so I haven’t posted any release creations yet… which means that I have three projects to share with you today! Let’s get started with the details!

For this first project, I decided to use Seasonal Sweeties and the coordinating dies to create a gloomy, but hopeful card… this one definitely reminds me of Eeyore, so it’s an homage to gray and darker gray. Ha! I started by die cutting and heat embossing the girl with the umbrella and her darling little pup from Seasonal Sweeties onto some watercolor paper, then watercoloring her with my Daniel Smith watercolors.

For the background, I stamped and heat embossed several of the little raindrop stamps included in the Seasonal Sweeties stamp set onto another A2 panel, then did a light blue gray watercolor wash for a gloomy sky background. I die cut some clouds from gray and pale blue shimmer paper to create some rain clouds, popping them up with dimensional adhesive. I added a strip of charcoal card stock at the bottom of the card front, to ground my little duo and create a sort of road for her to be standing on. I heat embossed the sentiment from Seasonal Sweeties onto the same charcoal card stock and used the coordinating dies for the calligraphic words. I popped both my girl and the greeting up with dimensional foam adhesive and scattered some Galaxy sequins about to add some more texture.

For my second project for today, I used the lovely sunflower stamps from Happy Fall Y’all to create this summery project. (It’s been so HOT around here… Fall teased us for a couple of weeks, but then summer came back in full force last week. I am not a fan.) I die cut and stamped several of the pretty sunflowers onto (more) watercolor paper and again watercolored them with my Daniel Smith watercolor paints.

For the background, I wanted a subtle pattern, and sunflowers remind me of a tidy little farm with rolling hills and a chicken coop, and a chicken coop reminds me of chicken wire… and the Hexagon stencil set reminds me of chicken wire. Perfect! (Sometimes it’s tiring being in my head haha!) I blended some Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink over the top of the stencil, concentrating the color in the bottom right corner, because I wanted it to gradually fade away from my climbing sunflowers. I also die cut one of the coordinating word dies included in the Happy Fall Y’all, both in white card stock,  but I put my Iced Spruce Oxide ink pad directly to the larger “fall” accent die cut to create a custom colored die cut that perfectly matched my chicken wire blending. After arranging my flowers and greeting just so, I added some NEW Fall Equinox sequins here and there to finish the card.

For my final project today, I have used Hey Pumpkin to create a little Halloween card. I’ll be honest. I’ve never made a Halloween card in my life up to this point. My nieces and nephews were too small to understand, and most kids (including my own) don’t really “get” the point of a card at such a tender age. But, my niece and nephew are finally old enough that I think it would be absolutely darling to have my kids send their cousins a Halloween card! And the new Hey Pumpkin set is simply precious. The little hat is optional, so you can make it a non-Halloween project… Plus, that pumpkin was a blast to color. I don’t naturally gravitate towards orange, but I am almost always pleased with the results when I do use it!

To start, I die cut and stamped the main image and the witch hat from Hey Pumpkin using Versafine ink and clear embossing powder, then colored it with my Zig markers. I knew I wanted to put the die cut onto a blended sky background, so I made sure to add some orange behind the trees and around the top edge of the die cut, because you know me and that little white edge…. it makes me twitchy haha.

For the background, I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide inks (I’m in love with the new release colors!) down the front of a white A2 panel, then added the greeting from Hey Pumpkin using Versafine and clear embossing powder. I popped up the witchy die cut using dimensional foam adhesive and sprinkled on some of the new Enchanted Plum sequins.

Close To My Heart From The Heart!

Good morning! I have recently had the pleasure of playing with the new Close To My Heart From The Heart card kit made exclusively for National Stamping Month. The card kit is chock full of some absolutely gorgeous floral images (right up my alley, right?) and a super cute card set that folds into a uniquely folded piece of stationery sure to wow the recipient. I have several panels ready to be made into cards using some of the stunning ink from Close To My Heart, but for this card, I decided to do what I love and stamp some flowers to color.

I started by trimming off the floral cluster from the “so very much” stamp (altering stamps by trimming certain parts off gets you more bang for your buck! 😉 ) from the From The Heart kit. I lightly traced a circle using a random circle die that I had lying on my desk onto a sheet of watercolor paper, then used that as a guide to stamp my floral cluster into a wreath formation using sticky black ink, then clear embossed it. I used my Zig markers to watercolor the flowers in pretty shades of pink and blush, adding my favorite pale blue halo around the edge of the wreath. (Summer has returned in full swing, with no sign of retreating in at least the next week, and so my brain was creating in summery colors. Summer has my official permission to skedaddle ASAP.)

After I had finished watercoloring, I trimmed down the edges of the watercolored panel. I added two strips of hot pink foil along the edges of a top-folding A2 card base using CTMH’s adhesive dot runner, then added my watercolored panel with dimensional foam adhesive. I wanted to keep the card fairly simple overall, so the final step was to add a simple black die cut thanks over the top of my pretty pink wreath.

Well, that’s all for this project today! This gorgeous From The Heart kit from Close To My Heart is exclusively for National Stamping Month, which runs through the month of September. Thankful wreath 

Hi! Soooo have you been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day challenge for this month? This is one of my absolute favorite challenges because, let’s be honest, I love to color, and any excuse to color every single day is totally something I can get behind. Another perk: gives me a reason to play with stamps that are not for an assignment. I get to just play because I wanna. 🙂 Case in point: The Wreath of Roses set from Lil Inker Designs. This set is a new one for me, and I have to say… it might be one of my absolute favorite Lil Inker sets. It’s gorgeous.

To start, I die cut and heat embossed that beautiful floral wreath from Wreath of Roses using Platinum embossing powder onto Arches Cold Press watercolor paper. Next, I watercolored the pretty florals using my Daniel Smith watercolors in shades of Nickel Azo Yellow, Buff Titanium, and Quinacridone Coral. (I decorated our mantel with some fall decor last week, so I’ve had autumnal color schemes on the brain!) Love this color combo! 

After I had finished watercoloring, I wanted a simple layout, so I simply popped up the wreath with dimensional foam tape onto a creamy linen card base and added a die cut platinum shimmer Thanks from Papertrey Ink’s Big Basics line. The final touch was a double twine bow adhered with some Multi Medium Matte.

Sparkles are always a good idea. 

Hi there! Some of you may have seen on Instagram that I recently joined the Shimmerz Social Media team. In case you’re not familiar with Shimmerz, this is a company that provides the world with one of my favorite things: sparkle. The Shimmerz products come in many formats: color pots, pastes, spray mists, and many more. Being a part of their new Social Media team means that, a couple times a month, I get to bring you all kinds of sparkly goodness. I hope you’ll enjoy! I did a series of posts with some of the Shimmerz products earlier this summer, and so I can’t wait to dive in and play with them even more.

For my post today, I thought to myself… sparkles=magic=unicorn. So, I pulled out one of the super cute unicorn stamps from The Greeting Farm called Hello Unicorn and heat embossed it in silver on some watercolor paper. Next, I watercolored it using Shimmerz paints in Precious Metal, Pixie Dust, Royal Purple, and Orchid-stra. The paints react wonderfully with water, and so manipulating them and moving them around on the watercolor paper was a breeze. I fussy cut the unicorn out and set it aside to work on the background.

For the background, I used some of the fabulous colored shimmer Spritz to create a ridiculously easy, galaxy-esque sky background. I simply sprayed Plum Pudding, Chance of Rain, and Sapphire Spritz sprays onto a panel of watercolor paper, dabbing some of the color away and spritzing other spots with just plain water, then rolling the panel around so that I got the drips and dribbles where I wanted them. I hit the panel with my heat gun (because, impatient haha!) and then used a Memory Box Shimmer stencil with the Puttin’ on the Glitz Paste-eez to add even more sparkle and dimension to the background. The Paste-eez started out opaque, but dried clear, so all you see is that sparkly glitter. #givemeallthehearteyes

To finish the card, I die cut some clouds from vellum using the Cloud Borders dies from Honey Bee Stamps and popped them up, then added a strip of sparkly fuchsia card stock at the bottom. For the sentiment, I silver heat embossed a sentiment from another Greeting Farm set: Magical Day. I trimmed the sentiment strip down and flagged the end, then popped it up on the card front.

Concord and 9th: Pineapples!

Hi there! The Where Creativity Meets C9 design team is back for our final installment of the Feature Friday for Concord and 9th‘s 2nd Birthday Celebration! Today, we are focusing on:

Pineapple Perfection

Such a fun set. You haven’t seen the last of this one from me! I love that they included individual outline flowers as well as the solid flowers so that you can color OR stamp that marvelous and trendy pineapple. I typed in “pineapple” on Pinterest and found some darling pieces of artwork to inspire me for this project. I chose to use Concord and 9th’s Perfectly Penned along with the Pineapple Perfection set to create my own custom sentiment:

To start, I heat embossed the main pineapple image onto some Arches Cold Press watercolor paper, then painted all of the flowers in a tropical color scheme using my Daniel Smith watercolors. I then created the custom sentiment using the Perfectly Penned set and my T-ruler. (That thing is such an invaluable tool on my craft desk.) After I had die cut the pineapple from the coordinating dies, I trimmed off the edge of my sentiment panel and added the pineapple, with one edge of the pineapple slightly hanging over, then trimmed it off with my scissors, and added a strip of shimmery silver paper to the edge. I stamped the Stripe Builder in black and white on my card base, then popped up my pineapple panel with dimensional adhesive. The last step was to add a few black enamel dots to round out the touches of black on the card!
