Hi there! Altenew is releasing some new, fabulous standalone dies and stencils in the Plentiful Patterns release! You should have arrived here from LauraJane, and your next stop is Michelle Short. You can also start back at the beginning at the Altenew Blog. I love a good standalone die… there are so many fun techniques and looks you can achieve with the same die!

I have had a long love affair with blue and white Delft china, so much so that our wedding colors were blue and white! The patterns in the Pattern Motif die set reminded me of beautiful fine china, so both of my projects today are modeled after that! Let’s get started with the details.

For my first project, I die cut the beautiful images from Pattern Motif using white cardstock for the base and some medium blue cardstock. I layered the detail images over the base images and adhered them with liquid adhesive in a pretty background pattern. I adhered the die cuts on to a white A2 card base. You know how much I love white-on-white die cuts; I love how subtly the white base layer accents the blue detail layer and helps it pop!

For the greeting, I die cut the Hello from Simple Greetings, the base layer from Dazzling Diamond glitter cardstock and the detail layer from some more of the same blue cardstock. The glitter cardstock helps add some textural difference to the card front. To make the greeting stand out a bit more from the busy background, I adhered it to a strip of vellum, then ends of which I then tucked around the edges of the patterned card front.

FInally, I added some iridescent pearls to help hide some of the dots of adhesive I added to the vellum! Isn’t the chinoiserie pattern so pretty?

For my second project, I used the new You Matter die set and kept the same color scheme, this time using Bouquet Die Cut Tape to create the chinoiserie background. I added the tape to a blue A2 card base, then used a blending brush to blend some Ultramarine ink on the edge of the blue card base.

For the greeting, I die cut the You Matter from some white cardstock, then die cut the base layer from some more vellum. I love the slight halo the vellum adds to the detail layer! I also die cut the other portion of the sentiment from two layers of white cardstock (more white on white!).

I adhered the die cuts using Instant Dimension Foam Tape, then added some iridescent pearls for a touch of shine!
Well, that’s all for my projects today! To celebrate this release, Altenew is having a giveaway!
