The Ton Stamps Summer Release: Day 3

I have to say, I always feel like Effie can’t outdo the florals from the previous releases, and somehow, she does it every time. I am so in love with these new flowers. Let’s get started on my projects today!

For my first project, I used the absolutely stunning new Large Peony 4 and Large Peony 5 stamps with a little masking to create a beautiful peony cluster that covered the front of an A2 card base in its entirety. They are seriously SO. STUNNING. And, in my humble opinion, if you are not terribly sure of your watercoloring, these are some good florals on which to practice, because the petals are nice and large, which gives you plenty of space to practice your shadows and depth. I started by heat embossing the darker pink flower using some platinum embossing powder, then stamping it again on masking paper and masking it off to add in the other bloom and foliage. I then watercolored it with my Zig markers and a damp paintbrush, going back and adding in more shadows after the first layer had dried.

I didn’t really want to cover up the pretty blooms very much with my greeting, so I cut the gorgeous Brushed Thanks die from some heavy weight vellum, then covered it with Versamark ink and heat embossed holographic embossing powder over the entire die cut, creating some wonderfully subtle sparkle. I used clear dimensional adhesive to adhere the vellum die cut to the front of my card, then added some of the lovely Summer Soiree incentive sequins mix to add just a touch more dimension and sparkle.

For my next card, I wanted to do something a little different than just pull out my watercolors. I’m trying to make sure that I use all of my coloring mediums, and not just the ones I like the most, so I dug out my neglected Copic markers. I heat embossed the beautiful new Poppy Border stamp using some more platinum embossing powder onto a panel of vellum, then used my Copics to color the back of the vellum to create an almost stained glass effect. I added in the sentiment, again embossed with platinum embossing powder, from the Anemone Wishes set that was debuted on Monday.

I added the vellum panel to a plain white card base, adding liquid adhesive just around the very edges of the panel. To cover up the adhesive, I die cut a panel of shimmering aqua glitter card stock using the Double Stitched Rectangles dies to create a pretty frame for the edge.

I love this technique! It’s always nice to try something different, just for a change of pace.

So many unique stamp sets today, none of which are floral (which totally throws me off haha)!!! The Beer set is fantastic. The layering looks kinda crazy in each individual piece, but when you add the last layer, it falls into place perfectly! I thought it would be so cute for a wedding card when coupled with the Tea Party stamps and dies. To start, I stamped the main beer mug image from Beer with the Citrine Trio and the Crystal Pewter and Smoky Quartz inks to create the foam and the mug itself. I used the dainty, super feminine teacup image from Tea Party, die cut and stamped with the Peony Collection to contrast with the large, hyper-masculine beer mug. I used Noir ink to stamp the “his” and “hers” using the Scripty Alphas stamps. I had originally intended to put these images on a regular A2 card base, but found that the beer mug is so large that it fit better proportionally on a 5×7 card base. After I had mounted my die cut Beer mug and teacup with foam tape on my 4.75″x6.75″ panel, I mounted a 5×7″ panel of adhesive gold foil to my card base, then added my finished panel over the top to create a pretty, shiny gold border.

My other card for today features one of the incentive stamp sets that you can receive with a qualifying order: Anemone Cluster. It’s a mini stamp set, but the flowers in it are so pretty and are arranged so nicely that you can use them in a variety of ways. For this project, I started by stamping the main image onto some watercolor paper four times and heat embossing them with our Rose Gold embossing powder. I then used my Daniel Smith watercolors to paint them in shades of pink-y peach and coral. After painting, I die cut them with their coordinating dies and set them aside.

I die cut one of the double stitched circle dies from some white card stock, then stamped a pretty greeting from a set being released later this week using Ocean Teal ink. I arranged my blooms in a wreath, then laid the die cut circle over the top and mounted everything on a 5.5″ square card base.
